Have a car hauler?

I currently have an open 7x14 work/hauler with high side rails. It's a bitch to get in and out of the miata as the trailer fenders prevent me from opening the doors more than 8".
Any of you have some enclosed haulers? I've been looking for one with a side flip-up door. Would be great to find something with tire storage and a small work bench. I'm getting tired of taking all the **** in and out of my Yukon... not to mention having something to keep the car out of the elements. I put it under the carport right now with a cover...

Not a very good pic of it or my wife but here it is. I dont like towing it with my truck or my wifes SS trailblazer, it is just a heavy beast and the best you can do is about 10mpg. For short trips I prefer my smaller open trailer.

When hauling something as heavy and awkward as an enclosed car trailer, you really need a truck and gooseneck trailer. Too much weight centered 4 feet behind the rear axle.
I had a 28ft. enclosed trailer that I hauled with an F350 dually crew cab long bed choochoo custom and thought it was pretty easy going. That was driving 15-20 hours to some events. It was nice size trailer- enough space for cabinets, compressor, spares, anything you'd need for a weekend full of problems.

I think I've found what I'm gonna do for my retirement... until the money is gone. That would be maybe a year? Then back out of retirement!
Sweet setup man... love the hauler too M2... saw some REALLY nice rigs at Chin this wekeend at Road Atlanta. Randy Pobst was driving a yellow Porsche... was an honor getting passed by him!

Did you get to meet Randy? He's a great guy. I met him at the first Grassroots dyno day (way way back). Convinced him to take my showroom stock Miata out on the track to cut some laps and then spent some time getting advice from him. He's about as tangible as pro racers come.

I am also thinking about an enclosed. I have a simple open 16' right now, but I usually have 8 extra wheels and 20 tires with me.
I have atahoe. yes I get to the track with all of that. Its hilarious and a pain in the ***.
Maybe I am a *****, but I am kinda scared to not be able to see out of my rear view mirror.
Do you get used to that quickly??

Here soon I will start towing my 2 car trailer with my bus. The legal length to tow without needing a special permit everytime I go on the highway is 65' in Texas. I will be at 63'.
I ran a 15 race weekends one season with an f150 short bed standard cab and an 18 ft. open trailer. The truck was packed on every trip to the max. An enclosed trailer is another world- all the race **** is in the trailer.
I have actually seriously considered it in the past. Biggest thing was rear wheels on most buses have big humps.
I know somebody who did just that. They got the bus for free, got it running and hacked the back off to make it a one car hauler with a some indoor camping space.

On that note- I'm amazed at what comes up on CL for the price. THIS THING could work well- it's already got a tilt bed, just work out the ramps - and of course have a car with enough power to climb up there. Hard to believe it's gas powered. :(

Very quickly. It doesn't bother me at all when I pull my loads for work. The cars I can see, but I would sacrifice rear visibility for an enclosed.

Ramps to get the car in there?
I think he means that, the rear humps would cause an unflat base. With something like the miata, the added height of subfloor shouldn't cause any height problems. Granted I think 90% of track car won't have a height issues. We may have to duck some when getting out of the car.
To me it be more of is the width of the bus wide enough to be able to get in and out of the car with easy, or at least more easily then a car hauler with only a 6" door opening.
To me. Something like a RV and Car Hauler all in one seem like a Win Win. Get the extra security of having the car in the RV, making it harder to just steal the trailer. Also the benefit of being able to have a bed and maybe a cook top, over having just a truck and enclosed trailer.

You know what whould be kick *** is a toy hauler/camper that you could stuff the miata in. Sure, RV/Hauler IS the way to go... if you have that cash - not sure you'd be hauling a miata though! Then again, the hauler below isn't cheap either...

In the last year before my retirement I bought a '96 Dodge Cummins ext. cab long bed dually and right around my retirement date I bought a used Weekend Warrior 5th wheel toy hauler with enough toy room for the Miata and two of my motorcycles. Getting good deals on used equipment allowed me to remain debt free other than my mortgage. With the economy what it is there are good deals to be had on RV equipment.
