How about a 302 conversion? I'm sure that'd **** some folk off! Bowties to come off, trailer painted white - might do some vinyl graphics incorporating the blue mazda flag? Ideas? - those won't get me shot as the south east is a CCW territory - but I could fire back should I get the opportunity
Cosmetically, the hauler needs some touch-up, inside and out. It had the standard wood paneling inside, no outlets, and a checker vinyl floor that was pretty stained and tore in some places. I'm gonna replace the inside paneling with the white untextured shower paneling, AFTER adding some insulation panels and LED lighting - and outlets. Should be a fun re-make. Trying to figure out what I'm going to do for the front section of the trailer - I mean, dam, the miata will only take up half of it! Some fold down beds, tool bench/box, tire rack... all sorts of cool to trick out your 'camper' so fri/sat night parties will be enjoyable.

I thought about a flat screen and that cool-*** satellite Jarod had in the RV at RA - and adding a observation deck (you really need one at Barber)
Well - after ripping off panels, the trailer is now worth $2700 or less!
Just a couple pics of the hauler:

Yanked all the panels out today, some rusting at the top off some of the uprights, so will have to address that before re-paneling it.

Yeah, too bad it didn't have 5200# axles - I may have to upgrade the axles at some point, right now, the curb weight of the trailer is 3800# - add a 2250# miata and that really only gives me about 1000# for race junk before I hit the 7000# GVWR.

Thanks - I realize that. The 1K to play with includes the permanent things incorporated into the hauler. The curb weight is what I got off the website for that model.
Removing glued vinyl is a bitch - any ideas. I haven't bought a scraper.
I'll be prepping the top and hitting it with Rhino liner stuff. Need to cauk the joints again - the original glue/epoxy (whatever) is all cracked and breaking off. Any ideas? Thought about laying a bead of Butyl rubber down, then lay a thin plastic strip over the seal, then hit it with the bedliner stuff - issue might be water retention.
In any case - would you guys remove the eyes and go with etrack?

Score of the year. Amazing deal you got on this trailer.
Grab a circular saw, set the blade depth to about 3/32", rip a bunch of lines across the floor, go at the smaller pieces with a flat-blade shovel or shingle scraper. I did this to get through both a layer of vinyl and indoor/outdoor carpet glued to a hardwood floor.

I would only go with an e-track if you plan on putting lots of different sized stuff in the trailer. If you're only ever going to use one car and the eyes workout why go through the extra effort? Our race team has 8 race cars of varying size and shape so the e-track is a necessity. But if you're only ever going to tow your miata in this trailer then I'd say no etrack...

flush mounted etrack. That's what I have on my trailer, and it's great. I can haul anything on it, and I've never had an issue with not being able to strap something down. The DIY box has 8 flush rings, and they're ok as in we've never not been able to strap something big in. However they don't provide a lot of flexibility when we really load up the trailer with lots of random things in addition to the car (like tool boxes and wheels).
You can get etrack snap-in rings so you don't need special etrack straps to use the stuff.

Will certainly have to go E-track, galvanized - recessed into white vinyl floor would be great. Trying to decide on lighting - 2 18' 12vdc ultra bright LED strips in upper corners, 4700 total lumens.... or HO florescent. Bonus on the LED is that I don't have to have a generator or power hookup - will run it off a deep-cycle battery. I'll still get power hookup though. Cost for florescent and LED is about the same. My only concern is that the LED won't be bright enough? I have no clue how bright 4700 lumens is....

Must be careful not to spend as much on updating as I did on the hauler! This place has some awesome setups!
