Default Konig Retrack 15x7.5 and rear tire width for drag racing

Hey folks. I need some help with tire fitment. I currently I have a set of Konig Retrack 15x7.5 +32mm rims on my vehicle, and they have 205/50/15 rubber on them. I love the wheels, but I currently have some ugly *** 15x6.5 rear rims with 205/50/15 drag radials on them that I only use when I'm drag racing. Now I discovered this weekend that I need more rubber on the rear tires, and I'd like to put something wider on two new rims to swap on for these events.

For aesthetic reasons I'd like to put something wider on another two konig retracks, but how limiting will it be to me to try and put a wider tire on a +32mm wheel in stock fenders? I'm thinking 225, 235, or even possibly 245.

Anyways, any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm sorry if I'm not making sense, I just got back from a weekend of drag racing and am totally bagged.

Here's a couple of vids if anyone is interested

I know this might sound strange, but I don't like the look of them.

O.M.G, someone with original taste? No way!

Don't get me wrong, I love the 6ULs and their looks, and I'd have a set instantly if I had the money, however I'm tired of the blanket answer of "buy 6uls".

If you have adjustable suspension, you could more or less ignore offset, and just raise the ride height when you go drag racing to keep it from rubbing everywhere. I have a weird offset rim, I forget what (40?) but 225s worked fine with a slightly higher than normal lowered rear ride height. If that makes sense.

haha thats fine. You are aloud dislike them. I think there size is the biggest reason they are used by miata's that race more then there looks anyway. Also you should be able to fit a 225 on the wheels you have. as for rubbing I don't know :( maybe find some one in your area with a wheel setup close to yours and try and test fit

One thing to consider is that the only drag radial options for 15's are 205 and 225 unless you get stupid large diameters which won't work. 225/50/15 is the biggest that you will be getting to fit. They have a 275/50/15 but will be too tall. They suggest a 6-8" wide rim for the 225's so your 6.5's or 7.5's should be OK.

I bought 6 new 6UL's so I can devote a set to 25/45/15 RS3's and a pair to 225/50/15 MT ET Streets for the V8 car if I ever get off my *** and finish it.

I would see which of the 2 wheels are lighter and use that one. You do not need a very wide wheel to get a miata to work well on the drag strip, unless you are swinging some serious power. Anything wider than what you have will just slow the car down.

What gear ratio do you have? That is the number one factor in how tall a tire you want.

Not for drag racing. I rip the hides off mine in the first 3 gears, but the 235 MT's almost hook in 1st and do hook in 2nd.

225/50 MT Drag radials.
