Default Looking for a 4" tacho gauge

I've been looking everywhere for a tacho with the following characteristics:

- 4" (can be smaller, say up to 3.5")
- Rev range up 9K RPM (I don't have a problem if it goes to 10k but I don't like the 0-4-10.5 gauges that Stack makes)
- 0 position at 6 o'clock (not at 4 or 5).
- White face (but I can live with a black face if all of the above are met)
- I don't want a shiftlight in it
- Up to $300 but can pay a tad higher if I can't find anything else.

I already have this:

which I want to remove entirely and replace it with the tacho described above and this next to the tacho:

Anything readily available out there?

I know you know how to google but something similar to this?
http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult3.asp...r&Series=Nexus
Egauges have a decent overview and filtering function.

http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult3.asp...eries=DI_White (but that's a 0-3-11 one).

But you are no stranger to custom. Get a stepper motor one and change the needle and face and you get what you want.

Oops, the Autometer Nexus series needs a $250 control box (one box for all gauges) too...

If you would be modding anyway, there are cheap stuff to start with
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUN-CP7914/ (not the best quality internals I guess)

The Autometer Nexus series would be a winner if it was in white, didn't have the silly futuristic look, and was a little bigger (it is 3 3/8", so smaller than the stock tacho!). I like the Defi one better but it is a little too big (4 1/2"), and may not fit. It also requires a seperate controller to work, which adds clutter and introduces potential failure points. On the bright side, the idle region is covered in detail so that is ok, I'm not really interested in the 2-3k region. It also looks clean, which I like. I may actually get that, thanks!

What's wrong with stock? All the customization you're doing, and you don't think you can get it to work with your new setup?

I'm throwing away all the stock cluster, because with what I want to do, there is not enough room for the stock parts to fit.

Just guessing but the stock gauge cluster is hard to chop down to make room for the square display and still have some parts of the cluster work. It does not look modular IIRC.

In my cluster Kronos replaced the stock tacho with a Stack Clubman one (0-4-10.5), but that one is sticking out trough the stock clear plastic, so the cluster circuit board is untouched.

And the winner is...

Defi 4".

I purchased a new Thurlby-Thandar function generation last week, so I was able to test it on the bench. It is good, better than I actually expected. Obligatory video:

Zoom into the video at 20 seconds, take a screen shot of the gauge, and post it along with the MS sales saying "can your miata do this?"

Heh there was some one that used that as an advertisement yet all the other gauges showed 0.

OK thanks. It would be perfect for me. I would replace the "N" in Ninja with "M" so it would read "Minja".

Hell yeah that is ballin with just the one gauge!

on a threadjack, What wheel is that/hows it feel? and what shift light is that? Ive been thinking of doing something identical to that as far as the shift light goes. I really like how it looks there.

The wheel is the OMP Targa. Feels awesome and I love it. I use it with the Works Bell hub and Works Bell QRS quick release.

The shift light is just a custom built unit I made. It is gone now but I am toying with the idea of adding shift lights around the tacho.

Sweet, Ill look into it.

The unit, box and all looks really good! its exactly what I was planning on doing sans the position of the lights.
