In the context of this thread, toss it and get a GT-1000. Outside of that context, yah, it's a functional wing. Just keep it at least 6" below the roof. Ideal placement is height off deck equal to chord of foil for a 3D. That's lows.

Full disclosure, that estimation was based on just glancing at the wing when you emailed me mentioning you picked up a GT-250. Most notably, it's a GTC (APR's 3D element line) rather than a GT (APR's 2D element line). At a glance it looks like a 200 based on the turnbuckle angle adjustment design, whereas the 300 uses a multi-hole pattern... at least it does for the current model, not sure about the older version. You also mentioned that the person you bought it from said it was a Miata-specific kit, and the 200 is just a far more common wing within the Miata context than the 300. You should be able to sort out which it is just by measuring the width. The Miata-specific 200 is 59.5" wide, the 300 is wider.

As Emilio said, it's not the wing for taking on the world. But, it will make good downforce. Moreso if it is actually a 300 rather than 200.

I had a GTC300 back in 2007 or 2008 and it had the multi-hole adjustment brackets. I've never seen a 300 with turnbuckles.

That wing served the PO well, but he's moving up to a 2D wing on his E36M3 . I think this a step in the right direction for Lars' car. He got this thing for really cheap too.

Yeha, for $400 I would have pulled the trigger too. He can easily resell for same $ or profit at a later time as long as it stays in good condition.

The wing is a GTC-200. Install went nice and easily.

15x10's and Xida Race are next on the to buy list.

Is the plan to mount it higher, or is that the finished product?

Finished product. I talked to Dan today and they don't reccomend the spacers. Since it is a 3d wing you don't need it as high from what I understand.

Nice! I have an APR GT-250 on the way. It's S2000 spec though so we'll see where things line up and if I can make it work. I'm looking to max the ruleset so a 2d element at the roofline made sense.

Do you think some vortex generators at the rear of the roof would keep the airflow better attached to the rear of the hardtop? Might be good for a wing mounted that low. I'm sure someone with more aero experience will chime in.

I would love to max the ruleset, but my wallet says otherwise. Everything specific for this build is going to be on the cheaper end of things if I can manage it.

I have zero idea on how aero works. I do know how to reasonably copy winners though. So everything I do will be looking at Bullet and ThePass's car and copying it the best I can. Also I am going to start reading the Aero thread one of these days.

Well I was wrong. I am not getting more Xida's. I ended up picking up some Feal 442's from ThePass this morning. The can win on the west coast, that means they can win on the east coast.

Well first step is to take those swift springs and throw them in the nearest dumpster, then get some appropriate Eibach's or HyperCo's.

The answer is yes on the vortex generators.

Ill hopefully be seeing you there at gridlife in 2018. I have been attending their events for a few years. recently picked up a turbo miata that is very well prepped and will be competing in the street mod class as well. My previous miata had a splitter made out of birch wood that met the width regulations. It may be heavier but it was my first attempt on aero. This is the other miata I used to run there. (warm up lap on a very slick morning at gingerman)

The new miata I plan on using the singular motorsports wing (apr 250) but i have not been able to see if it meets the street mod class restrictions along with an air dam and splitter. Would anyone be able to help out and check the height? I know the width is fine. Sorry dont mean to highjack a thread. Just interested to see what others will be doing in this time attack class

I remember this car. I stuck with you for a few laps observing your line since I had minimal Gingerman experience at the time.

The Singular motorsports wing is well within the StreetMod ruleset for width (10" shy of maximum for a Miata) and comes up "a hair below the hardtop height" according to the Singular website which is perfect for StreetMod as well.

I don't know if it satisfies the "no further than 5" out from body profile as viewed from above criteria. I know my setup doesn't.

Our GT250 kit sits juuuust shy of 5" behind the rearmost point of the rear bumper when viewed from above (we left 0.1" or so to be on the safe side), because it was designed with these TA classes in mind that limit the extension to 5" from the bodywork.

Bump.

I'd like to be informed as well.
