Not my car, but me driving.

Time to throw some real bars on the car now.......

A quick review of the front-on shot (3rd row, LHS) indicates about 4+ degrees of roll. I use photography to help setup cars, a low shooting angle helps you see all four tires and you can review any tendency to lift a tire, roll, rub, etc during suitable maneuvers. Bear in mind that tires can briefly grip at higher levels than they can continuously…there are about 4-5 primary performance zones to capture and evaluate.
http://www.pbase.com/sjmarcy/image/129279656.jpg Here's a famous car being setup on home turf…won Nationals with a massive deficit in power compared to the rivals BTW...turbo was detuned from the original starting point to gain throttle response and broader RPM range…goal being course time results and not dyno sheet envy…I took a few hundred shots of the car from different positions in the types of maneuvers we were concerned with improving…tradeoffs…notice the lack of the typical EVO inside rear wheel lift…that took some doing. http://www.pbase.com/sjmarcy/image/129279657.jpg |
why the hell is your hard top on :(
|
Thats pretty cool marcy. BTW i used to run sts(2) at the time and it was a blast. I have yet to do a race with SSM yet, i know i won't compete but what ever. I need real suspension and slicks.

a racing beat tubular front sway will drastically reduce your body roll and autox times. I recommend that before anything else if it bothers you.
|
Disco Dick has a point. I got the biggest front tubular i could from them and it helped me immensely. I used to have Integra guys on bump stops make fun of me for my body roll. Then after my rb sways no more hondafanboidoucherizm. They are cheap and definately worth the money you pay for them.

Another setup run shot…see the inside F/R tire contact patches? http://www.pbase.com/sjmarcy/image/1...9/original.jpg Roll is not totally harmful…more important is the contact patch…speaking of which…check out this Alien driver in his now well modified EVO…basing the finish line cone, and the gate before it (out of view)…tough to do if you've been there. http://www.pbase.com/sjmarcy/image/96358807/medium.jpg Here's another shot taken just after the 1st one above…note the nature of the outside front tire…see how at full load it still has some negative camber? This is where many tires deliver their very highest cornering grip. http://www.pbase.com/sjmarcy/image/129300862.jpg |
I have earned new respect for you. I will do better not to make piss matches with you on m.net. I agree with your statement though, roll isn't that bad, and you have to tune your alignment for it. I did this in a laymans terms to do decent in sts. I was kind of a wild cannon at the time with my set up, retaining my rear sway and what not. Anywho, It is determined this dood needs a front sway. After listening to people and finally not being stubborn, and having my rear say bar studs broken, I have removed mine. However, the benefits of this on a NA car are still unknown (to me).

wow you guys brought this one back from the dead. I put a goodspeed front bar in it, it's much better now. I almost never take my hard top off. I don't see much reason to.

OP - that series of images in post 3 demands to be made into an animated gif. Got them a individual images? It's not difficult, there are webpages that let you upload the images, set the size, quality, and speed and spits out a finished gif.

Thanks…I really do have a ton of go-fast knowledge and really have helped many go faster. Openly or behind the scenes. Custom parts and weird stuff too. I hope that some that have attacked me here back off. One or more tried "e-bombing" me, signing me up for weird stuff, etc a few days ago. Apparently that is a big part of what this forum is all about, street punk behavior, forum games. That's a shame. And from moderators here, OMG. If some met me and let me help or could open their minds to any degree, they'd wind up with a faster car and with a smile on their face. Or not.
