Default NASA TT Classing on NA8 with NB1 Head

Pretty common mod to swap on the '99-'00 head. But, if I'm reading the rules correctly (Rule 8.4.1(2)), this swap means you have to dyno re-class the car. Is that correct? Anyone out there go through this already? Big deal or easy?

Looks like it's time to hit the dyno and send Greg an E-mail.

Dyno reclass really saved me some points.
140 in a 2450 car is like TTE with seven...

Yeah, before carefully reading the rules, I was adding up the points for the '99 head. I was getting dinged for the head, intake, throttle body, injectors, fuel rail . . . . Just that mod alone was adding up to TTC on a points basis. Made no sense. So, I can see why it's a lot more fair to do a dyno reclass.

That's for a Spec Miata. I don't fit under that rule with my mods. I haven't officially dynoed yet, but am probably around 140-150.

Where does it mention "Spec Miata" on page 63?

If you are 140-150 and don't want to detune, then you are right and will have to apply for a new base class

Those reclasses are for BTM heads. In his case that would be a NA8 head.

The dyno reclass email is usually responded to in a few hours.
Greg is very prompt at delivering the results.

Actually, rereading the Appendix C stuff, it covers extensive mods but has quite a HP limit. Looks like an attempt by Greg to limit his E-mail load since Miata guys are always mucking with their cars.

We'll see where I end up. If my dynojet is 128 or less, I can use that rule. Otherwise it will be E-mail time. I'm honestly expecting TTE* as my base class.

that was with the proper way to ask for a reclass (all the info as requested per the TT site). a week and a half later, i got drunk and did my own math to equal the same P/W ratio he gave me for my underpowered one and even suggested the *, the max i wanted and weight i wanted, then another one a few days after apologizing for it. A week after that, i got my reclass. Oddly enough, he gave me those reclasses of the ones where i got drunk. Guess my drunken math was logical.
