OEM gas tank weight
 

I have seen all kinds of threads on m.net about it but no hard number. Anyone know what the OEM gas tank weighs? If it is 75lb like people are saying then I am putting in a fuel cell.

I saw that thread but didn't see Roy's post in there about it being between 18-22lbs. Most others I found were pure speculation. I just wanted to make sure I had all my bases covered and wasn't leaving something like that out there.

I have an empty one I can weigh but I highly doubt a fuel cell would be lighter unless it had much less capacity. The OEM gas tank is pretty thin steel and it doesn’t weigh much. It does have a good amount of undercoating stuff sprayed on it, probably a few lbs worth. But Id guess an empty tank weighs around 20 lbs.

Verdict is in and it weighs 18lbs. I had to take one out of my parts cars to cut it up for the scrap yard.
