Me thinks that scale needs calibrated ....
I do not sit in the car when I weigh it since I already know what I weigh

Mine as I drove it back from Pikes Peak where I bought it from. I weighed it with a full tank and some clothes and it weighed 2090, so when I got home I took out my jack/spare tire

No picture, but another data point since I recently dug out the sheet:

Corner weights (with 158 lb driver) were:
Code:
       Left Right
Front 648 lbs 603 lbs
Rear 605 lbs 553 lbs
Total 2409 with driver, 2251 without
1994 with very minimal weight reduction/weight addition. That weight was probably 3/4 of a tank of fuel, maybe more. MSN Autos says stock spec for my car was ballpark 2350 so my weight sounds about right.

AC, power steering (with cooler), 50 pounds of insulation, front skid plate, 3 inch radiator core, 1 gallon surge tank, heavy Taurus fan, and a half tank of fuel. Add 220 or so for me and 105 for her.

That's without me in it. It goes to 50.02% cross with me in the car.

I guess I should update this with a finalized weight. This is before I actually corner weighted the car, but in fighting trim, no driver.

Wow, tpwalsh. It's really wild to see the spread in weights in this thread, from the same basic chassis.

tpwalsh,

I assume this is your DP AutoX car, amazing how light you can get the 1.6L w/o expensive stuff like fuel cell, body kit,...

Nice re-location of your gauge cluster :-)

I wish I had a pic of the corner weight on my car, it's 1924 lbs wet, including 40 lbs ballast, over 50% rear wt biased. Unfortunately It's corner-weighted for all 255 lbs of me :-( (I'll add another 25 lbs ballast when I finally start using Avon slicks).

Not that amazing I don't think, strip it to a bare frame, then add back only what you need. suspension, motor, trans, diff, PPF, roll bar, seat. The biggest pain in that theory is the wiring. It took me many hours to get the motor and alternator to run on my custom harness. Also remember I'm running a HardDog bar, and not a full cage(it's in the plans), which is where some of your weight comes from. I'm sure your cage weighs more than 42 lbs.

Ya, I couldn't figure out where to put the gauge cluster, it just didn't want to fit anywhere. When I thought about flipping it upside down, suddenly it had a perfect spot. 20 minutes, and a fabbed up bracket later, it fit perfectly.

25lbs when going to Avons? Why?

18 lbs off vs. A6's,
7 lbs for less fuel.

Did you get much from undercoating? I wonder if it's true you can get 30 lbs from acid dipping a bare tub, and a re-paint. Seems like a good thing to do if you're stripping to bare tub.

I didn't realize that the Avons were that much lighter than the A6's.

I haven't touched the undercoating yet. It wouldn't surprise me if it's 30+ pounds.

Ask Emilio, he's done it. My recollection was that it took at least that much off.

IIRC, the SM guys say that a very detailed cleaning gets you something like 13-15 pounds. Ive thought about taking mine off, but it seems like a ton of work for not much gain when there are other inroads to be made elsewhere.

Also, Id love to put a nice 30lb lead block over my RR wheel first.
