BTW, for street guys who don't need the GPS function and are only looking for the dash, Racepak does offer a dash-only IQ3 "Display Dash" setup without the GPS and accelerometers. $625 on our website right now. The only downside is that you'll have to get a VSS signal into the dash, or else you won't have a speedometer (the IQ3 Logger Dash uses the GPS to calculate speed). Other than that, you get all of the same bitchin' warning functions, shift lights, etc. |
Is there an easy way to get a VSS to the dash that it understands? I am so tempted to blow money on this.
|
Ive been trying for a while. Still working on it. When I figure it out I will let you know I have a new way I'm going to test this week.

If I buy the 'display only' dash, can I use it as a speedo/tach/coolant/O2/oil/boost gauge & warnings etc without the EFI Interface Module? My ECU (Adaptronic E420D Basic) isn't on the list.
I've been looking at adding oil pressure/temp, coolant temp and O2 conventional gauges anyway, but there's no way I could easily keep an eye on all that stuff. I'm guessing I might need one or two of these? http://www.racepak.com/Components/USM.php |

I'm guessing I might need one or two of these? http://www.racepak.com/Components/USM.php Tach - dash has built in pick up 1. coolant temp 2. WBO2 3. Manifold pressure 4. Speedo 5. Oil pressure or temp Speedo is the tricky one. NA is spinning cable which gets converted to electronical frequency signal in circuitry of dash. Use the speed drive from an NB (Hall Effect) and you'll generate a square wave signal. The USM can be programmed to with a frequency scale for speed. |
I believe some (or most?) of the NA dash clusters have a square wave speedo output that can be accessed on the back of the cluster. I seem to recall it being there for cruise control. Probably worth a look.
|
Hopefully mine does but I dont think it had cruise control and it's an 89......I'll post up my solution once my racepak is in.
|
Be careful using the tach signal going to the stock instrument cluster. The iq3 doesn't want the tach signal coming directly from the coils.

Does anyone know if the GPS Racepak can log miliage without a speedo sensor?

On my G2X I can go into setup-2 and calibrate wheel speed off any sensor type you want, the same way we specify the # of crank teeth for RPM.

Pretty sure the IQ3 Logger has an odometer, yeah.

Can we correct the spelling of the thread title to Racepak so folks can find it in searches easier? |
