Big deal, my 73 F250 does that at idle before it warms up

If you ever wondered how in the world race teams spend 8 and 9-figure sums in a single season, this is it.

anything for an edge, Formula one will spend a 1/4 million to get 2% less drag on a brake duct

On average F1 team has 300 brake duct designs on hand for perfect brake temps
Average Formula 1 team spends $250,000,000 a year.
20% of the body panels weight is paint

Just some facts

How much would the car's speed and aerodynamics affect behavior?

The FR tire looks like it left the ground/plate at 1:00. Figuring the downforce would be enough to keep it planted at speed.

It's a 7 post rig, you can see the one attached to the triangular looking assembly in the middle of the frame. Its there to create the "downforce" the car would be seeing at speed by pulling down on the chassis.

***** no joke.

Damn, didn't see that. Thanks. All the work they put into it, I should've assumed they wouldn't just ignore downforce.

So they already know they're going to have occasional 'air time' over the course of the lap. ****..

Formula 1 cornering speed is 20% tires and 80% aerodynamics--F1complete.com

When doing a track replay you take data (outputs) from a lap at whatever track you want to study and use that data (hub accels, pushrod loads, damper positions etc.) to try to replicate the inputs that would create such data. Once you have your theoretical inputs then you can run the track replay on the rig so it's not 100% accurate but decently close.

I've attended a few 7 post tests at ARC here in Indy and they are incredibly boring. After the first track replay it looses it's appeal quickly. There's valuable information to be gained though. Up close with the body work off it's surprising how violent the ride is.
