I am currently running 1.8 calipers on sport rear disks. I noticed a lot of outer pad taper. Should I swap them for sport calipers?

The sport calipers look stiffer having extra reinforcement ribs on the body. Does this solve the pad taper?

Running Colbalt XR3 pads.

 

new calipers helps. also keeping the slider pins lubed helps too.

I think you can get calipers with lifetime warranty at autozone. just replace them every year (or some interval) when you put on new pads/rotors.

 

It worked for me, no more pad tapper with sport calipers but less choice for pads... ie no DTC60 for sports rear available but you use Cobalt so I guess you already looked.
