Default Super Miata East

It is official. March 2-3, 2019 will be the first SuperMiata race east of California/Nevada at the beautiful Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, AL. The event will be hosted by World Racing League and Tracks Unlimited. Cost will be $600 for the weekend. That includes 2.5-3+ hours of track time each day. To really lock this thing in, we need to get 15 drivers signed up by January 1st.We are still ironing out the time schedule details for the weekend. By early December we will have more details ready. We are currently only targeting S2 class, but will entertain others.
So get your Miatas ready for some great racing. It does not have to be fully prepared to the rules to have fun. Got a Spec Miata? Get a set of Maxxis RC1's, pull your restrictor and come have fun. Got a Miata with a cage? Read the rules on racesupermiata.com and get your car prepared as close as you can. If you have any questions, let just contact myself and I'll be happy to answer any questions. I know a lot of folks have been waiting for this, so lets make it a hit! If Barber is well attended, we'll be looking into more tracks in the Southeast, Mid Atlantic, Mid West, and Texas to add dates to file out 2019.

You have a little time. We are focusing on S2 right now. A lot more cars out there closer to S2 spec than S1. If one shows up, we'll gladly run it, but we just aren't pushing it right now.

And that's the conundrum... do I ditch S1 (or postpone) and start a fresh S2 build? Decisions decisions...

Post pone and come bump-draft with me! S2 should be ~1:42s at Barber and ~1:40s at Road Atlanta.

Maybe by the time S1 rolls around I can do a S1 build as well. Just imagine, 1:35s at Barber

It's a spec class, so whichever is in better condition!

No direct advantage for NA's or NB's because you can swap the best parts around.

Pretty much. Pick the 1.8L and the fuel or your choice, dyno, safety, and come play.

Tell your friends. To paraphrase Emilio, if you're sitting there hoping its going to be successful, then you're going to watch it fail. We need participants to move this forward.

Doesn't matter. Chassis are completely equalized. Unlike SM where each generation works best on a certain type of track due to power, torque, CG, comp weight or gearing, SPM is all equalized. Same performance envelope whether its a 90 or '05.
Comes down to your personal preference of NA vs NB cosmetics or what you can get a deal on.

Per the rules, free updates/ backdates
-subframes
-spindles
-brakes
-engines
-diffs
-4.3 R&P mandatory

Air dam and spoiler equalize lift, drag, frontal area

Championship winners
2014 - NA chassis, NB2 engine
2015 - NA, chassis, NB2 engine
2016 - NB Chassis, NB1 engine
2017 - NA chassis, NB2 engine
2018 - NA chasis, NB1 engine & NB chassis, NB engine (driver has both)
2015

I just wanted to update everyone on some more details that we have locked in for the first SuperMiata East race at Barber Motorsports Park on March 2-3 presented by World Racing League and Tracks Unlimited.

Entry fee: The entry fee will be $599 for the weekend. SPM drivers will get nearly 3 hours of total track time per day. SuperMiata registration will be setup this week. Tracks Unlimited @ Barber Motorsport Park registration. Please remember we have to have 15 cars registered to race by January 1st to lock everything in. So register now and show WRL and TU you want to be a part of this growing series.

Schedule: SPM will be run within the Red – Advanced group for practices and qualifying. Then in the afternoon there were be an hour to run the dual sprint races in the same format as the West group. That means the inverted grid for the first race based on qualifying. Then a 15-20min race. From the results of that race, the grid will be inverted again for the second race (15-20min as well). Sunday’s races will start with an inverted grid from the second race on Saturday and follow the same format as Saturday’s races.

Car requirements: Any car that is legal for competition will be allowed to race, except the following items need to be present (not optional)
- Aluminum, non FIA, or expired FIA seats must have a back brace attached to the cage
- No slider seat rails. Seats must have a fixed mount.
- Center nets required.
- If no onboard fire system is present, the driver must demonstrate the ability to reach the handheld fire extinguisher bottle while belted into the seat.

SuperMiata strives to meet FIA safety standards as we feel this is the most up-to-date regulations presently being used. Currently SPM West is requiring full halo seats and onboard fire systems for 2019. That is being waived ONLY for SPM East due to the increased cost of entering a new series. For 2020 all SPM East cars will be require to meet/exceed the safety standards set by SPM West. The items listed above make the biggest impact on safety for the value.Classes: Please read the rules multiple times. Will be focused on S2 class cars, however if anyone shows up with a legal S1 car, they will be allowed to run as well. S3 will not be run. This was an experimental class that SPM West ran last year with limited results. If you have a 1.6L car, you will need to convert to any 94-05 1.8L (non MSM) to be legal. Emilio posted a few items we will make concessions on for the first race below, but other than that your car will need to be S2 legal. If you have a question, please contact Javier or myself before the race.

We are working hard to iron more details out in the coming weeks. I look forward to seeing everyone out there and meeting everyone. Even if you do not have a legal W2W car, but are interested in SuperMiata and have plans to join the races in the near future, please sign up for HPDE program with Tracks Unlimited. Let us show them there is a serious interest in the race series.
