Turbo vs Supercharger For Track

I know this was covered in 2006 and 2008, but I want to know what you guys would prefer for the Road Track

Turbocharger
Aerocharger (no lag turbo)
Supercharger (Roots)
Rotrex (Centrifugal)

lol.

Be prepared now...

V-Band Absurdflow or ARTech Turbo setup is the only way to go for a dedicated track car.

I had pretty good times running what started as a FFS setup. I have since ditch the supercharger for a v8...

hustler 10-27-2011 02:44 PM

I don't care how you get to 250whp, just get there.

DEI- direct exhaust injection.
Basically lagless with the lowend grunt of a roots, midrange of a turbo, and topend of a rotrex.

win win weeeeenn

That GTE supercharger is mad tyte. Stack two or three of them together and make mad boost yo. My peeps tell me you can make 20 psi with four of them and an Optima red top.

Never raced a centrifugal but I DD one (Vortech) in a BMW. Top end is great, bottom not so much. The Rotrex stuff is supposedly better.

I've raced a 320 RWHP turbo Miata and a 320 RWHP V8 Miata and they are both awesome. Pick your poison. Like Hustler said, just get there, reliably. Bring money and/or mad fab skillz.

Go to miata.net and read in the Forced Induction section. This topic has been beaten to death and yet still manages to get beaten even more.

Plus you can hook up a hose from your anus to the throttle body and eat chipotle before the track and have "BOOST SCRAMBLE" like 40psi on demand..

...For that kinda power though you'll probably need at least 9 power cards and at least 3 e-cools

Seefo 10-27-2011 04:14 PM

^been watching south park lately? chipotle-away!

+1

I have had both, they both have +/- points!

Savington 10-27-2011 10:04 PM

I like usable power, so I'll take the turbo.

jacob300zx 10-27-2011 10:43 PM

I'd rock a rotrex or a well built turbo setup from Absurd or ARtech. Honestly I think you could build a 170-180whp naturally aspirated miata for 2.5k and thats what I would build.

spoolin2bars 10-27-2011 11:48 PM

f20c or turbo

k24madness 10-28-2011 12:07 AM

Low boost turbo with high compression running E85. It will feel like a V8.

pusha 10-28-2011 12:19 AM

TNTUBA 10-28-2011 12:23 AM

I'm a S/C guy....but if I were building a track car I would go Turbo.

Braineack 10-28-2011 09:45 AM

Of all these, I wouldn't choose the rotrex.

But really I only see two choices: turbo or sc, with one style of each for both.

richyvrlimited 10-28-2011 10:29 AM

Why's there no love for the Rotrex anymore? 12 months ago it was the new hotness.
