Your trolling is forgivable because you literally cannot fathom how good they are until you try them.

This is the best way to put it about any shock AST or better. It does not compute.

And its not like there arent other options, comparing to the CS you will be paying an extra ~$500 or more to get any of the other high end shocks in singles. Of course, all those options come with billet upper mounts so they really should be compared to the normal xida singles, where there isnt nearly as large of a price gap.

Savington is correct. To the OP, can you break down your cost for this conversion so we can make a better recomendation? FYI, the reason everyone says Xida is the simple fact that you are getting the performance of a 3.5k Moton for 2k, plus all the development and guess work is already done. The good thing about Tein is Emilio has done all the testing on those as well. He could actually give you the best feedback as he has run/sold all of the Tein combos.

To re-valve the TT Flex will cost $550.00 plus the cost of the new front springs @ $140.00. I can get the Mono's for $1650.00 shipped. I have the money for the re-valve and spring upgrade but if the Mono's are the way to go, then I'll sell my TT Flex (I have someone who claimed they would pick them up @ $850.00). So, the costs for either option are within $100.00 of each other.

1-2 seconds is not at all out of the realm of possibility. I found 2 seconds at Buttonwilow in Theseus going from 700/400 Koni Races to 800/550 Xida Clubsports, and the car was significantly easier to drive. On the old shocks, the best I ever did on C71 Hankooks was 1:55.6, and it was absolutely terrifying and impossible to do consistently. On the new shocks, I could do consistent high 1:53s, with a best of 1:53.4 on the same tires.

So your getting Mono's for 1650 which have the wrong sring rates for your intended (560/440) use so add new springs front and rear for 240 and your at 1800 or get Xida's with no helpers for 1900...so your 100 dollars difference on Xida's?

I openly admit that I haven't tried em, and have said on numerous occasions that I'm more than open to the experience.

You two post "xida or death" in just about every suspension related thread, many completely unrelated, so I returned the favor.

I still <3 u both though:giggle:
Maybe someday soon I'll swing by SLO and have you show me in person.

What sort of gain would I see by moving to Xidas? I don't really care about ride comfort, it's a track car.

I guess I'm trying to determine what the best way to spend the money is if my ultimate goal is lower lap times.

robert

P.S. Sorry to threadjack.

Emilio and I had this discussion yesterday and we both agreed that the quality dampers will cut some time off for most people who continue driving the virgin lines. However, these dampers and spring rates get the car into a special, happy place where you have a degree of car control where you can enter hotter than you could on a worse set up.

This is going to require some experimentation and driver growth if the driver runs the traditional "DE safety lines" and that won't be well received by the Austin crew, lol.

Actually for the valving that the Mono's come with, the 10/8 F/R split is just about perfect. They can handle a bit more spring, but the tracks I drive are not too smooth (except for LS) so having a bit of compliance isn't a bad thing.

Compliance comes from shocks, not springs.

I believe that's what he meant, after re-reading things several times.

If I ever bought a new miata, or decided to do something serious with my current, Xidas would probably be my first thing.

If you weren't cat crew, you'd be banned by now.

jacob300zx 01-05-2013 02:40 PM

The spring split is to close and the rates are too low.

Seriously, some of use bottom dweller fun car/daily drivers have to take what the race crew liked a few years ago. You know, like Monoflex shocks, Corrado rotor wilwoods, Mtuned rear sport brake rotor conversions, and bigger HP engines.

hustler 01-05-2013 07:32 PM

lol @ being low power crew.
