hey guys
I'm currently running 15x8 et0 with 195/50/15 AD08R's and I think the car handles great. I currently have the car off the roads while some rust works being done. also i'm building my car for the local hill-climbs and a few track days a year. id love to stay with my et0 wheels for 2 reasons. 1: wider track width which if im not mistaken will result in better stability? and 2: because i like the look of them.

the plan for my car is to run the wheels i have with 225/50/15 tyres and some fast5 bolt on arches, that will allow me to properly set the alignment, because currently i have to have negative 3 degrees on the rear to make sure it doesn't rub when driving hard. My issue is ive been doing alot of reading on how low offset effects the handling by changing the factory scrub radius and causes bump steer, turn in speed etc...

Is there anyone on here who is running 15x8 et0 for track use and can tell me from experience the pros and cons? I really dont want to spend all this money on 225's and arches, and cut the car up to fit the arches if at the end of it my car handles like crap.

ive seen people build mx5 race cars with low offset wheels? i didnt think there'd be such an issue asking a question like that -_-

Since you genuinely appear to want to learn, you've definitely come to the right place. I would suggest poking around the threads in this very section, as well as the wheel/tire section and you'll see what all the fast people run. 15x8 et0 on 195's is just silly. you can get proper offset, proper fitment, and use the space inside your wheel wells properly running proper wheels

Pros: You already own them, I guess?

Cons: They don't fit, too narrow (everyone here uses 9 or 10" wide), excessive scrub radius.

225/50s don't fit no matter what wheels you run

If you want proper handling and max grip, you want a 15x9 +36 with 225/45/15s or 245/40/15s.

Those aren't extreme offset wheels (they're just really wide), and that isn't a track car (it's an autocross car).

Welcome to the site, but brush up the search skills, and search exhaustively before you post; I can almost guarantee the question you'll wanna ask has been discussed at least once before, likely in extreme depth.

This question has been asked hundreds if not thousands of times. The answer is always been the same. The fastest Miatas in the world do not run 0 offset wheels.
Yes you can ran mismatched tires with the wrong with and the wrong offset and the car will go around the track. It's optimum? Hell no.

On this forum are the Builders/drivers of the fastest time attack Miata ever built on race tires, the fastest one on street tires, about two dozen national champions. You get the idea.
