Most of the time it boils down to the price - you do get what you pay for and there is a reason the cheap ebay manifolds don't cost much - they are cheaply made.

My favorite is the Racing Beat dual hoop style bar knock off - made from exhaust pipe tubing! Sure is cheap though.

Why does it shock you? It's a style bar...

I heard the story told this year at SEMA about a Cobra replica that had broken on the track. Not having a tow hook, they proceeded to connect up to the "roll hoops" and tear them and the rear bodywork out of the car.

Some people don't realize that with a quality part, you don't have to end up buying 5 manifolds. And look at all the labor you save when you only have to install your mani once.

Your lucky that the crack didnt shoot chunks of steel into your manifold. If your gonna buy ebay manifolds you have to reinforce it at all of its weak points. The steel is brittle and think and cracks under any sort of heat. They are a great way to destroy your turbo quickly.

What if we gave every member of this forum who has been active for more than 3 years the ability to ban spammers like the above?

Edit: that wouldn't include me... I've really only been active for two.

Personally never had a problem with an ebay manifold on a JZ motor. Just make sure to re-weld the spots and add some support brackets.

Yup, JZ motors and Mazda BPs are the same thing.

GTFO.

JZ motor does not equal BP motor. Ebay steel manifolds on a BP will have problems and should be avoided at all costs.

OBX / egay manifolds are not all bad.............

As in not ALL of the manifold has to be thrown away after a few days/weeks of use.

Usually I can reuse the turbo flange when making replacements.

Hi Guys. There is a lot of tips on what not to buy. I am building a 1.8bp engine, using 323gtr cylinderhead, Manley rods, Wiseco 8,5:1 pistons. Have been in contact with a guy that makes good manifold in the us, but problem is that he charge you 800dollar for the manifold. I was hoping to find something little cheaper than that.
Any of you have any suggestion about what manifold to buy? I am aiming for about 350- 400hp
Thanks!
Best regards from Norway

Contact Sturovo from the post above yours. He builds good manifolds right there in Slovakia.

If your goal is 400hp but $800 for the manifold is too expensive, you may need to re-evaluate what you think the entire project is going to cost you.
