Default Cant get idle dialed in. Need help

so to prevent getting roasted i have been searching and trying different things all week. (i did use the search tool)

Ive tried going through what the tuner studio manual says and brianack has said in some other threads where you dial in the idle valve % settings but when i open the can test module for idle and try to adjust the idle % i can adjust from 0-100 with no change in idle. in another thread i read that if you unplug the idle control valve the car should die and when i unplugged it it stays running. right now im idling at 1050ish rmp and it bounces around. the other day i tried to start it with the headlights on it would die almost instantly so i know the voltage isnt getting compensated for.

vehicle is a 1.6 with gt2860rs bmw tps no A/C and now PS if that matters

could the icv be plugged or not working or am i just missing something

No sure. It was my best friends car then when he assed away his dad gave me the car. I remember when he got the ms he bought it from a guy off a miata forum that builds them so maybe you? Haha

Open it and post some pictures of it. With what you said I am guessing that it was built by Braineack.

Sounds like either the ms isn't sending any signal or you have some unrelated mechanical or electrical issue. I'd start by testing it in test mode. If you get no buzz there's another issue.

looks like something i may have built in 2010-2011.

but where do those wire wires end up? not where I was expecting.

I'll open it back up at lunch and check. 2011 sounds about right. New development today was it stalling at stoplights and decel

well yeah, your idle valve isnt working at all :P

I think it has to do with those two wires on the expander. they look like they are both going back to s12, but they are on the wrong side of those drivers... it's probably shorting out the idle control circuit and the boost control circuit.

the unit has tell-tale signs that I built it, but I would never have wired the flyback that way.

was just playing with it in the work parking lot and this time when i did the idle test i was able to fully adjust it. I did bump the frequency up from 150 to 200 but it starts increasing idle at 39-82. Would just upping the frequency start making the iac work? Im happy its working but dont want it to just as easy start not working.

Ill see where the wires go too in a few hours.

So what happened was my boost solenoid was clicking and i unhooked it then on the home yesterday i got my idle figured out and my boost control. I has some screwed up outputs in there. Could someone take a look at my current tune and make sure my boost and idle tuning isnt totally jacked up i only have about an hour into tuning them. i get 12 psi right now

the flyback on you idle and expander is incorrect, youre going to continue to have issues with those two circuit untill you answer my question and fix it.

How am I supposed to have those wires? Just on toothed side of the black thing that both wires run to?

actually, as it, that's probably fine -- so you might not want to sweat it.

but there's a preferred method.

you just need a single wire from the expander to s12, no diode. but you need to move the wire to the other end of D2 or D5.

Will I see any benifit if I change it? I'd prefer not to worry about it just because it seems to work.

Also so thanks for all of your help I know you get asked stuff daily.
