Unlike Bullet, Taxi had a couple issues, but I managed to run this one decent lap on Friday.

Dan, nice lap especially on street tires. Too bad the event ended early, would have liked to see Taxi run some more.

Hell yeah.

What would be really wild is if some of the big builds come together and a Miata lockout happens on the URWD podium.

Aww don't take it like that, it was a friendly dig

That probably goes to most competitors tbh, at least the ones with complex builds.

Save me, it's easy to dish crap out when all it costs is a few clicks on a keyboard... First Emilio isn't going fast enough, then I don't build fast enough ..
Great contribution to the thread, 5/7 would read again.

Way to take things completely the wrong way, geeez. Good to know people are so butthurt and quick to get offended for no reason here.

And if you're slow at making **** that means I'm literally going back in time so there's that. As I said, just a friendly dig at people who's brain make them do too many things at once lol. I'm actually a big fan of your work. So please don't take what I say badly.

EDIT: And yes Emilio isn't going fast enough, he even said it himself

Leveq,

To put it bluntly, you haven't yet contributed enough nor earned enough respect here to troll vendors and forum leaders. When the entirety of your contributions to miataturbo is poking at the guys who make a difference, expect to get treated harshly.

My guess is a few more snide comments earn you a ban, but I'm not a moderator.

Do we get a little card when we're allowed to chime in with the "gang" ?

Nah, I get your point, could just do with a little less serious. I'll refrain from now on. I do tend to be loud-mouthed.

Anyways...

How much more springrate does Bullet need?

MOAR, fo' sho' bro!
I ran much higher rates than you and it was just enough in my *reduced downforce* config.

Bullet ran an untouched S1 setup optimized for the 245/40/15 Maxxis RC-1 and aero package. 1100/500 with 1 1/4" RB front an 9/16" SPM adjustable rear bars. We knew it would be too soft but didn't have time to do anything about it.
Starting from scratch, I'd choose much higher rates. Gendron is making us some big 3 piece bars with bearing pivots

I had to take a stab at the spring rates because I figured that my 1000/550 setup is going to be too soft for the aero loading, and, well, no one else has done it on a Miata before so...
Went with 1400/700 for starters, ended up being okay with the reduced downforce setup I ended up running.
Need more roll stiffness for sure, bigger sway bars are on the menu as well as a 3rd spring setup.

Serious question here. At what spring-rate would the OEM control-arm start to flex before the spring compresses effectively?

I was thinking the same thing^^^ At what point does the OEM miata stuff become unsafe (Jesus Emilio's flying lap was scary looking)?? Hubs not dealing with 1000 lbs of downforce and 2.5g's of cornering load? Ripping suspension mounts off etc? I'm sure you guys are smart and will sort it out between now and then.

Anyways- amazing work by all. Can't wait to see next year's SLB cars/results.

I wouldn't think something like 1400/700 would necessarily be unsafe, but I wonder if you run into issues of adding more and more spring to go faster in *insert crazy loaded turn here* only to be bottle-necked by the control-arms.

yeah maybe not unsafe but definitely outside the original design intent of the miata (back in 1988 lol)

I'm not expecting to bend the OE arms, but since no one has any experience running this much aero and spring rate on a Miata, I guess we'll have to see.
