Haggling? Selling a car, sure.

I have been buying and selling MX5 parts for something like 25 years (including parting out two road cars and one racecar), and I rarely haggle, or have to respond to 'offers'. I set my price (and I have been criticised for being too exxy), if it doesn't sell it sits there until it does, or if I particularly want it gone I reduce my price. If I see something that is too exxy, I just pass unless I really really need/want it.

You sound like you don't know or care about the market prices for what you are trying to sell, that is your prerogative. But you do know the forum rules because that is what you signed up for, right?

Thank you for giving a respectful and thought-out response. This is what I'm talking about with regards to addressing people in a respectful and dignified manner, which sadly is a skill that has been lost on the Internet.

And you are correct, I'm selling dozens of parts for frankly only this one time ever, and I'm a very busy man. It would take quite a bit of time to research pricing for each and every one, and I don't want to sit here and play with pricing to get an item to sell. I just want to sell it. I would much rather have the buyer DM me a price they feel is reasonable, and if I agree then I'll accept it and send it out. That way we're both happy and we both get what we want at a reasonable price.

And yeah, I wasn't aware of the pricing rule, and I was more upset at the forced and aggressive approach they were taking. In my experience, posting a price just results in people complaining about the price or haggling me anyway. In my case, I don't want to offer my parts at any particular price, I'd rather work with the buyer to negotiate a fair deal for both of us. I'm not a store and I'm not setting any particular price. I'm willing to work within someone's budget, within reason.

This type of selling is terrible for buyers as they have no idea what you are asking for things and EVERY single person has to message you and find out the prices instead of just knowing. So in the long run this makes more work for your busy life as you have to message more and more people and also responding to the callouts of not having prices.

Updated listing. Removed sold items to clean up and make it easier to review.

Your prices are pretty much all MSRP on new parts. Good luck with your sale I guess.

The prices listed are only there to satisfy rule requirements. None of them are my actual asking price. I wanted to post parts without any price listed because these are used parts and I want to negotiate fair value with the buyer rather than post a price that is going to get haggled anyway.

Awesome

I think negotiating each part is a much more fair way to sell parts rather than try to sell it for whatever "inflated value" I deem it to be worth, then wait months for someone else to agree to that price. Pass, I'd rather just get straight to negotiations.

I'll update the list

Sorry to pile on but I don't see how this post hasn't been locked or deleted. You are making more work for potential buyers and yourself answering what's missing below in email/PMs...

Location? I read the entire thread, where are you and/or the parts?
Shipping? Are you willing to box and ship parts? Which ones?

Then your descriptions are often vague...

"Built Engine Long Block, Complete" Year of parts used? Specs?

"Innovative Motor Mounts" NA, NB?

Megasquirt ECU (01-05 VVT) MS2/MS3? P&P?

Doors (x2) NA or NB?
Trunk
Taillights
Rear Bumper
Soft top Plastic/Glass window? Zippered? Vinyl/Cloth? Age/Condition?

Stock Seats WHAT YEAR?

95 Miata ECU <---The ONLY hint as to what car you are parting out

Various Miata Books & Service Manuals ...my crystal ball isn't showing what you have

Please, DO BETTER.

You are outpacing the wisdom that is chasing you.

Thanks for deliberately editing the post to remove the contextual hints that identify the parts.

**** that douchebag. He had way too many chances to not continue to be a douche, yet persisted belligerently in his douchebaggery.

People get to enjoy the use of this forum if they are nice. A couple of others and I get to decide who is considered nice.

Go use craigslist or FB if you want to be a dick to people.

His contrarian shtick was tiring. Good riddance.
