Default Greddy@12psi + lots of band aids = 171 HP mustang dyno

So, I got the car on a dyno yesterday. We made upward of 20 pulls over the course of 1.5 hours. My main goal was getting the AFR with in reason, and of course, getting HP and torque numbers. This was what we settled on. The print quality sucked so here are the highlights. Max HP 171 Max Torque 165 FT-LB, AFR 10.7:1- 12.8:1, Max PSI 11.5 My exhaust is killing me, Greddy down pipe, then stock to the tail pipe. I have a BEGI down pipe on order, and plan to replace the rest with 2.5” and a pseudo catalytic converter.

i was talking to my friend who races and builds works on his turbos and stuff like that. and i asked him how much boost he thinks would be safe on my car when i get my intercooler and he said 7psi max... i was like what? then he was talking about the life span of a car and all this other **** but there are people on here who are running 10+psi on a greddy kit.. why is that.. i understand the injectors and things like that what else makes this safe to do.

to the guy asking about psi...

psi has nothing to do with how much boost your car can handle.

a t28 at 10psi vs a t3/t4 at 10psi is very different.

Your freind probably has little to no miata experience or is taking your attention level and overall commitment to having a trouble free car in mind.

You are kind of right here. Though the heads will only flow a certian amount of air per pressure ratio, the main difference is the heat we allow to enter the combustion chamber. Controlling this heat and intern the latent energy we push into the motor stops detonation and allows the combustion porcess to be more effecient and make more power. This is why WI has worked so well to me, and people like Mikef85, eliminator, markp, etc can make alot of power with high boost. Becouse our AIT's are significantly cooler thanmost budget setups. Keeping the timing in a safe range will also have abit to do with it as well. In the end it is all about not detonating the motor to death.
