Sorry about that y8s, I only posted the article here because it is a huge historic event. Like I said, we haven't seen anything like this since the 1960s. I had thought people would be able to take it at face value, and would be able to not drag partisan politics into it.

That particular interview is a historic moment for the country as a whole - if this continues, the election is going to involve a great deal about gay rights. Romney has said he wants a federal constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, Obama has came out in favor of gay marriage. It's kind of a Really Big Deal. We haven't seen this sort of thing since the 1960s. Whatever happens is going to be ground shaking, in either direction.
which is why I believe what he's saying is only for votes. Especially when 40 states have voted same sex marriage down...
they only reason he spoke about it, was because biden is a moron. if biden hadn't of said something last week, neither would have obama.

- People take the time to make those images, clearly putting a lot of effort in to some of them, instead of doing something more productive
- People either genuinely believe the message or want to convince others to believe the messages
- By either believing or convincing others to believe those messages, there is a further polarization of citizenry.
- The more polarized the citizenry, the more polarized the campaigning and the less likely anything helpful gets done.

but the big picture here is that homosexuality is a significant civil rights issue.
Of course maybe you're a sexist and a racist and don't believe giving blacks and women the same rights as everyone else is really all that relevant either.
To some people, having Obama come out and say he's pro-gay marriage is like Kennedy acknowledging the rights of blacks during the Freedom Rides. Or Wilson supporting Women's Sufferage.
The difference I guess is that a bunch of gays didn't get burned alive by a mob of racist ******** while they rode a bus to Alabama. Give it time though. You can always count on the bigots.

Obama has never gone on the record and said he supports gay anything until yesterday. he may have implied it but never stated it outright.
civil rights are NOT a state issue. and desegregation fell under interstate commerce.
and homosexuality is not subject to opinion. there are people falling in love with members of the same sex and they aren't waiting for anyones consideration to do it.

Secondly, Back in 1992 (I think) I said my hero was Ronald Reagan when asked randomly in French class. The difference is the press was not there to write it down and rub it in my face 20 years later.
