Arrow Time Attack - Driveway Austin TX 11/18/17

Just called Driveway and Apparently there is a local Miata group meeting there for the event, so should be a ton of Miatas in the Time Attack.

https://www.drivewayaustin.com/schedule

Anyone else planning on going?

I actually have that day off and I wanted to go to Austin anyways, so I might. I wish the website had more details on the planned track variation and the cost.

Yeah, details are a bit lacking. Track layout for time attack is L1 (short). Lap times are about 35-40 seconds on that layout, so quite brief. Lots of turns and fun though. Cost is $100 for the time attack if I'm not mistaken. I was told they are running out of spots quickly because of the Miata group that will be there same day, so it was recommended to buy a spot online in advance. If you end up making it say hi. I'll be in the orange in black exocet.

Well, that short of a lap doesn't sound too fun. I think I will go to the ASR finals here in NM instead. Thanks for posting that up, though. I will try to hit it next year. I go to Austin 2-3 times a year.

Yeah, it is super short. I'd love to do COTA more often, but $600 in fees per day is a bit brutal.

I did one of the time attacks a few months back. It's not worth the $100 (I think it's a touch more now even). You get a total of like 4-5 minutes of track time, on what is essentially their auto-x config. Fun if you don't normally track or do anything, but if you are used to proper HPDEs or track days you'll be quite bored.

Damn, just paid the entry fee. Oh well, it will be good to beat on the car and get it sorted a little bit. I want to do COTA at some point.

Yeah might as well give it a try, don't feel bad. Admittedly it usually brings out some cool cars, since the risk and abuse are both pretty low, so that's a nice plus!

I wish I was free that weekend, I'd come watch.
