I'm interested in getting a wiring harness for 1990 1.6L Miata, just enough to run the motor.

I only want the wiring that is needed to run the motor, nothing more. This factory harness is now almost 30years old, and could cause me a bad day at the races.

Where can I buy( or who makes) a newly built harness, in minimal race style?

why dont you figure out what wires you need, and make it yourself? what could you possibly ditch? you need lights, a defroster sure is nice on wet days, etc...

also, the majority of our commercial airplanes are 30+ years old, we seem to trust that wiring...

that 1990 1.6 aint winnin any races anyway, lol

 

No one makes replacement harnesses. You are on your own for that. There is an electronics sub-forum that has info on different oem connectors and where to get them and such.

 

Nobody would be willing to pay enough to make it a worthwhile product to develop.
