I have a doubt that has me worried. I have installed the 83.50 Supertech pistons rings in my engine as indicated in the picture of the guide. But I have made a mistake and I do not know if it is very serious.
I Placed the oil ring expander into the oil groove with the butted tips of the expander 45 degrees from either end of the wrist pin as the following picture shows:
The image has confused me I believed that all oil rings had to place to 45 degrees from the wrist pin. I have already assembled the entire engine. After this I have read the installation guide again and I have read that the expander has to be at 90 degrees!! The expander are correctly butted…
Is it a very serious mistake? Or can I continue as is? I do not want to disassemble the engine again for not breaking the cylinder head gasket and other gaskets ...
So your oil expander is off by only 45 degrees? I would not worry about that, there is plenty of margin. I think I would only worry if it was off by more than 90 degrees.
