Ok guys, quick question, I’m running a OPL Alum radiator and a coolant reroute on my turbo Miata. Would my temp levels be ok running only (1) 12v fan for daily driving ?


2nd question, if I was to splice the wires an run (2) fans on that 1 connection, would it cut power from both fans so it wouldn’t spin as fast?

 

Without a/c you might be able to run 1 fan. With a/c there's no chance.

Speed of a dc electric motor is dependent on voltage. 2 fans off one output won't significantly drop the speed of them as the voltage will stay roughly the same. It's also likely to blow the fuse. Of you want to run a second fan off one output you should use a relay for the second fan and trigger it off of the feed for the other one.

 

Just run the single factory fan and be done with it. You dont need 2 fans unless you are running AC

 

Well, for question 1, I'd say yeah, depending on where you live. I have a single fan on my NA 1.6 turbo, with good rad, and coolant re-route, and it stays pegged around 190 F. or less, even when pushed.

 

Forgot to mention, I have no AC

i live in Las Vegas where it’s hits like 115 sometimes. That’s why I was asking

Yup, no AC on mine either. During the 1 1/2 hr. dyno session it never got over 190, but I am in N. Mi., so my normal Summer temps are 70's to high 80's. I think you will be fine with the single fan.

Every car is different. I have FM stage 2 and without AC when I just removed the AC fan my temps went up by over 10F. Even on highway. Also in my case no ducting work.
