Default '99 valve lash 1-2 thou looser than spec

Just reassembled the head for my '99 motor and the intake clearances are at .009 and .010, exhausts are at .014 with a few being at .015. Are these too loose? Should I look for new shims to bring it back to spec? Am I correct that spec is .008 - .009 for the intake and .012 - .013 for the exhaust?

I'd run it before jacking with a re-adjustment.
Did you have a "valve job" done to the head?
Did you hand lap the valves?
Valves will go through a bit of self adjustment if they have been machined and they will TIGHTEN the clearance.
Being a tiny bit too loose is best...
If you hand lapped and did a good job they will not tighten up as much.

Run what you have for 200 miles and then recheck clearances.

What he said. A hair loose is better than a hair tight.

Yeah I just hand lapped the valves. Not sure what the clearances were before I dismantled it but I ran and drove the donor car briefly and it didn't misfire or have a noticeable tick.

Little loose may cost a small amount of power.. 1-2 thou I probably wouldn't worry about it
