Howdy,
As my parts pile grows and reassembly gets closer, one of the last things to pick is coils.
At this point, I’m looking at ING-1a or r35.
My engine is VVT, and I have 10an fittings welded to the cam cover to work around, and so the top of the engine is getting quite busy for a coil-near-plug arrangement.
Saw today that KA Injection are prototyping a mount for for R35 coil (and others), but these are not available yet.
Can anyone point me to any exisiting mounting solutions for the R35 coil on the BP?
I don’t wish to use LS coils, and would prefer to use the IGN-1a if a remote mounted coil is what I end up doing.
cheers,
Hanson

Second last comment on this post shows remote mounted coils with longer leads. Daffy's running some serious power and hasn't noted any issues with the longer leads

There was also someone on the Mazda MX5 of Australia Facebook group who was running R35 coils and was making mounting brackets to suit but I can't find that anymore.

I've made hold down plates for 1.6 and 1.8 non vvt for the R35 coil using a 2001 nissan pathfinder spark plug boot, but I haven't experienced the nubs on a VVT.
Getting the nubs for the stock ignition coils machined down or ground down could help get a hold down plate in the spark plug valley of the valve cover, but I can't see R35 coils fitting without modifying the VVT valve cover significantly
