Default Guy lurking here is a scammer

Hey guys just a heads up, i posted a WTB ad for a crank. Guy messaged me on here and gave me "his friends" email. Emailed the guy and he sent me photos of a crank. Reverse image search showed no results but it seemed fishy. I waited a week then sent him my # to finalize the deal. He texted me and I googled his number. Lo and behold hes been scamming people on multiple forums for years.

Just a heads up to anyone he used the name Tasha Holmes. His # is (334) 472-4768. I believe his real name is Brian, not 100% sure.

What's the forum name? I'll ban him right now, for the 20th time
We've banned this sack of diarrhea like 20 times now, just keeps coming back under new fake screen names.
Literally all he does is sit on forums and do this. Someone should hunt him down.

anecdotally we are seeing a ton of these WTB scammers across the entire network. They used to be just hitting corvetteforum, but they continue to branch out. it must be profitable for the bastards.

The Benm20357 one surprised me a bit.

That account was created last August, and then just sat totally idle with basically zero activity until this week.

I'm accustomed to seeing these messages from accounts which were just created that same day, but the fact that someone made this one six months ago, remembered it, and came back to it, suggests a very organized attacker.

IMO these are absolutely human spammers. They may be implementing scripts, but it's done by a live person, so they definitely have a playbook of sorts.

Someone should make a fake WTB thread once a week to lure these idiots out. WTB muffler bearing for a NG Miata, WTB a ceramic motor shaft bearing for hybrid 1982 Miata etc

We did that on the local forum - WTB pair of rear doors for MX5. Provided entertainment, but these people are persistent and just change their identities so there is no lasting benefit, it is just whack-a-mole as each appears..

Well, maybe one - it highlighted for newbies/trusting (naïve) souls the need to do due diligence when money is involved, even if it is not much money. Basically it is check join date (99% are within 24hrs of contact), and post history (usually nil now, as they make their approaches by PM rather than posting).
