Default Loud Valvetrain Knock ~1800rpm (Video)

Hey everyone!

I’ve got a freshly built turbo 1.6, only ran a few times so far. Everything is going great except for this stupid loud noise coming from what i believe is the valvetrain just under 2000rpm. The motor sounds great at idle and when i took it for a test drive i didn’t seem to hear the noise at all over 2000rpm. Oil pressure looks good, the gauge reads perfect numbers and i tested it via the turbo oil feed line into a bottle. However when we changed the oil after the first heat cycle there didn’t seem to be any oil in the filter.

Here’s a video of the noise. If anyone can point me in the right direction i’d appreciate it!!

FIXED IT!!
After looking over everything all day and bouncing some ideas off friends, i found the belt tensioner was loose and bangin around. Tightened it up and now the motor sounds **** 🤙🏼🤙🏼

What about the, No oil in the filter? I'd like to have no oil in my filter when I unscrew the thing.

Yeah i’m still unsure about that. The motor only ran for about 15 minutes before that oil change so maybe it just wasn’t enough time to fill the filter? I’ve taken it on a few break-in drives and oil pressure has been looking great every time so i think it’s all good but i’ll let you know after the break in period when i change the oil again.

Something isn't right there. ALL of the oil that goes into the engine goes through the oil filter. No oil in filter = no oil in engine.

I would check the drain back valve/diagram on that oil filter. I’ve caught a bad one before install before.

It was a wix filter. Maybe i got a bad one and it was just going through the drain back valve. I know the engine was & is getting oil

Stock filter location, the turbo oil feed is the only extra oil line and I have it coming off the stock oil feed port down under the exhaust manifold.
