Default Turbo K24 Miata fresh off the dyno

Just finished up the turbo KMiata, have a k24z3/7 with an EFR 7163, BMW 6 speed, getrag 3.42 diff. Found out boost controller is not working so this is waste-gate 10PSI. Looking to go back for high 400s or 500

425 whp /391 ftlbs on E-85, 368 hp / 341 ftlbs on 91.

Very nice, is it twin or single scroll?

Stock engine?

These motors are freaking amazing. I did my K-swap specifically to avoid adding a turbo, but it’s nice to see the potential. Can’t wait for your next dyno session.

VERY impressive (pos-cat added in appreciation of your engineering achievement) but what's the real-world usable limit on a track so that the rest of us can feel better about our own builds?

How much money do you have to spend and how much of the original Miata do you want to keep? 🤣

What is your goal? That’s a lot of power in a very small short wheelbase car? Are you doing autox? Time attack? Track days? Racing? Lots of other variables depending on your goals

believe it’s the single, think the twin is for the T4 housing.

stock block, had to do the oil pump to fit it in the car but, other then that it’s stock. Only reason we didn’t go higher is my EBC waste working. So that’s waste gate 10 PSI

These k24 EFR cars are nothing short of awesome.
Why's the torque curve so peaky? Is that when it goes to the high lift lobes? I'm obviously splitting hairs here, just curious.

I need bigger tires, If you blip the throttle past 3500 it breaks in second going straight, in third it will slide on a turn. EFR is giving me full boost at 3500, I’d assume having more top side might help in low RPM as the the stock 200 from the block was real usable.

I’ll do some track stuff in the winter, too hot in AZ now, but mostly a fun street weekend car that will beat on some V8s. Just love the thought of getting walked by a stockish looking Miata.

I have def hurt some egos on 5.0’s and SS Camaros

I wondered the same thing, think that’s what the Honda bros call V-Tec. Jokes aside that’s when it switches on around 5500. The k24z3 only has exhaust V-tec.

Default What are you using for a turbo manifold?

I have an RX7 with the same K24Z3 swap and I’m just curious what you are using for the turbo manifold.
I bought an exhaust manifold flange (stock exhaust with no CAT) and I was just going to weld on a V band for my T4 but yours looks a lot tighter than how I mocked mine up.
Would you mind sharing a close up picture of your turbo setup or a link if you were able to find a part that fits?

Oh interesting, Kpower has moved to a fully CNC'ed design for that. Wonder why, the old design seemed pretty beefy to start with. Wonder if CNC time is cheaper to them then weld time at this point?
@PatrickMcGuinness I have the "old" style, CNC'ed base with a Vband welded on that I will no longer be using. Also has a bung for an EGT sensor already added, which if you're turboing a K24Z3 I'd highly recommend... having just learned that lesson the hard way. If your interested shoot me a PM.

Not explicitly RX-7 specific (not sure what chassis you’re working with) but TF Works makes some really nice stuff including several RWD oriented turbo K manifolds;

EDIT; now realizing they only make stuff to work with the individual exhaust port engines, my B.
