This is a thread about the new OS Giken LSD for those of us with the cadillac rear end. I'm about to demonstrate what not to do. Unless it works out and then sure, I meant to do that.
I have driven my kswapped NB for one full season of autocross, track, street starting with an open diff and then the factory lsd. Not that I meant to do that, it's what happened. So now I'm taking the open diff out of the 2011 STS housing and installing the new LSD.
I'll probably just send it with these bearings. I don't see any wear. Removing the housing side of the bearings might just cause more problems than it's worth. I have no idea if there are shims under them or not.
If you have anything to add to this thread, post it up! Lots of people are about to deal with these same issues and I'd like a place for everyone to find the information they need to do this install.
Harbor Freight stuff. I had to use 1/2" all thread, drill out the holes to fit. The hardware that came with the kit was too short. This bearing wasn't too bad to remove. Valuable part number. Timken X32011XM Harmonic balancer bolt socket and impact. Thankfully the bolts were centered in the holes and the threads didn't get damaged during removal. Clearance was a problem here. I'm guessing there is a special two jaw puller that would have been better on these bearings.

Reason: bigger pictures
I wanted to inspect the new diff and learn what it looks like new. Hopefully it looks this way for a long long time. Cone washer 0.064" thick Looks like it's a 1.5 way setup. I don't know what springs are installed. I didn't want to dig that deep.
I should have gotten a picture of the bottom side of that center. There was number. Maybe 28/50? That's the two angles.
What I should have done before I took apart the diff. This is my factory LSD which has the same back lash feel as what I put together so I think I'm good. This is 0.014" at the point and angle in the picture. It's just the free movement distance before it turns the ring gear.
I took the car out for a drive today. Everything seems fine so far. No bad noises at least. The diff locks. Other than that, I won't know how it does until race day.
