I has LSD ?
I have a 94 1.8. MY rear diff went out, I am way too low for anyone's liking, And I got a new one from a junkyard for 28$. What a deal I thought. Take it home and spend a day putting it back on. Go to reverse out of my driveway and all I hear is like te garbage disposal noise from my sink and te car no go. Having my fiancé try while I listen I find out the rear diff I got is just as broken and my old one.
Now!
I am lookin for a LSD read diff, I am planning on boosting with a rwhp goal of 225. What exactly should I be looking or on the new rear diff? Should I get one from a newer mx5s?

The 1.8 liter diff (the one you have already) is the one you upgrade to.
To be perfectly honest, I don't think either differential is broken. They are incredibly stout units and they do not simply "go out". I think you broke a CV joint or your transmission.

Ok I was told that only certain 1.8's had an LSD?
Should I fe an open or LSD diff. If I planning on boost?
You were originally referring to the diff, you broke the carrier. You want an LSD if your NA or boosted, and you can just swap the carriers if they break.
Also, if the arm wasn't broken in the "new" junk yard one, that's also why Sav is saying that something else might be broken.

I'll have to check it out tonorrow when I'm up
Any key notes I should look for?
Knows spots for bad/leaky tranny?
I don't want to take the motor out if possible.

No the diff was not. when we had opened it, one of the gears was missing teeth. I hit this pothole at like 70. You can see all te oil/grease from where the cv blew out when the diff fell. only fell a few inches because of my ride height. I bought a new acel from auto sone and thats what i used along with the new 30$ diff. It didnt work so today I Took the axel back where I got it for a new one thinking it could have been a fluke. I just got home about to change the axel.

I'm going to quote this as the 10000000th example of why STANCE/HELLAGAY is ******* retarded.
Oh why coulnd't you have just hit the oil pan, lost pressure, and put that poor little car out of its misery?

And its: AXLE.

Sorry, all that grease and build-up looks like it had been leaking for a long time.
If you had a torsen, and swapped in a open I'm going to laugh. Even if the ring gear broke off a tooth, I'd still fit the replacement ring gear on the torsen diff and replace it. <---This sentence displays knowledge and know-how.
But you're saying that the replace diff "isnt working" so you are getting another new/used axel? Have you filled the headlight fluid lately?

Actually a better idea. Swap to the 1.6 diff and axles. You gain a touch of ground clearance. I'll take those axles off your hands so you dont have to store them. I'll even pay shipping.
