Default Oil return

Hi everyone,

I am measuring up the lines for my turbo setup right now. I am thinking of using a -12 return. I have decent access to this part of the pan right here

Would this be a viable spot to drill the pan for the return bung? Usually people drill further forwards under the AC compressor, however it looks harder to access compared to here. What are your guys' thoughts?

I'm a ham fisted monkey and I didn't find drilling under the ac that difficult. I did that because that's where I was told to. Before you start punching holes, make sure you have multiple confirmations that there's nothing in the way where you want to drill.

Yeah i have a spare pan. Looks like the pickup runs a bit high there so ill likely have to either drill stupid carefully or try under the AC. Im 3D printing a jig that will help me drill straight and also act as a stop for my bit

I don't believe anything will be in the way on the inside of the pan, the problem is outside, the subframe usually gets in the way. Not a problem if you're removing the engine though.

-12 seems like overkill. I was running a -10 on a 76mm turbo on my 5.3L and it was fine. Smaller hose may make the install easier?

My supplier doesnt actually stock -10(5/8 JIC) They stock -6(1/2 JIC) and -12(3/4 JIC) Seeing as they dont stock -10 and that they are the most affordable place i could find AN/JIC hose, i will go with them. Figure its an upgrade anyways as it should help drainage and hopefully prevent any leaks into the housings. I'm getting my fittings from mcmaster carr and the other fittings from the supplier. On a somewhat related note, is -4 suitable for the coolant feed and drain?
