Default Adapter search

Years ago, I knew of fitting to adapt a 5/16th inch barb like on factory small coolant hoses to -6an male without having to cut the end off to put a compression end on it.

I have tried two similar to these from my personal stock with no success.
Amazon Amazon

And I would like to avoid cutting the flared end off of to use one like this

Help would be appreciated.

I’m currently using the exact one you linked to without issue

The fittings linked are meant for SAE connections, not barbed coolant hoses. I wouldn’t expect you’d be able to slip them over a barb to get the threaded piece installed. At least not without cutting it off, but then there’s no lip for it to stay on under pressure.

Hence why I asked. Years ago I had some adapters similar to the first one linked but they had a o-ring on the ID that allowed for a positive seal on a barb/bubble flare, like the OEM coolant hose connections are, without cutting them off. Looking for some of them again is all.

They did fit over the barb just fine. They did not seal however.
