Default Rotella T6 Help

I have never used Rotella oil - always used Mobil 1. So many good words about Rotella T6 that I am about to load some in my blown 94R. Just noticed that it is called Rotella T6 "Heavy Duty Diesel" motor oil. Is this the correct oil of which everybody raves? The word "diesel" is throwing me off.

Yes. At least that’s what I used to run before I switched to Honda motors.

I ran it in my BPs as well as other vehicles. I've been running it in my motorcycles for decades. One of the original attractions was the lack of detergents that were making their way into a lot of auto oils, and a higher zinc content. The zinc content has supposedly decreased over the years, but is still higher than most auto specific oils.

I've run it in just about everything for years (subies, mazdas, some bikes) and it has never done me wrong. There's nothing magic about it, but it's a good oil for the price. True synthetic, good weight for a BP and older 4 cylinders in general, has some extra zddp, and mainly it holds up to heat very well since it's designed around diesels And cheap/readily available. I've always gone with it over something more expensive with the idea that I'll change it more frequently which is probably better than running a more expensive oil longer.

I've heard not to run it on cars with cats, but I have and never had any issues. It definitely has less ZDDP than it used to, unless you are running it in a real oil burner I doubt it will kill the cat.

I do the Mobil 1 High Mileage synthetic. I did see the Rotella T6 but it had diesel on it and stayed away. Thanks for the info guys.

I thought everyone started shying away from T6?

Driven DT-40 in my 911. Hands down has the best Blackstone labs results.
