Default Gt2560r .48a/r good?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if a gt2560r, .48 a/r, with a tdo4 compressor housing would be a good choice to make 225whp on my otherwise stock nb2? Is .48 too small or .60 would be better? What’s the spooling like?

Thanks In advance gentlemen

what .48?

I'd think the 2554 with the .60 would be better than a 2560 with a .48.

For what reason?

The .60 2560 spools great and runs out of flow up top. .48 would choke it more, and help spool, but that's not an issue with the 2560 .60. But if it's what you are looking to do anyway for maybe better autox low rpm or whatever, then I'd guess the 2554 with it's smaller wheel would still spool quicker than 2560 on a .48.

What .48 anyway, who makes that?

I got a deal on a brand new never used gt2560r .48. I got it for so cheap but I can’t find .48 units anywhere. They are all .60. I wanted to know if it cwould choke at high rpm. It came in the original Garett box so I guess Garett makes them

pics? I can't think of any T25 trim .48 turbine A/R

I can however think of plenty of T28s, like the 2860.

I don’t have pics of the turbo but here is the box. It is a T3 btw. I searched on Garett and can’t seem to find the configuration I have on mine???

Interesting. ATP, home of all things unique & oddball, doesn't even have that combo.

Odd. I’ll update you guys on how the spool’s like… probably won’t be limited up top since I’m reaching for 225whp only. I hope at least 😅😅

Please take a picture of the back of the exhaust housing.

ATP actually does offer a 2560 in a .48AR housing. Same housing as used below in the 2554 for a T3 manifold. That is a drop in turbo upgrade for my setups.

From what I have read it is a hybrid: 2560 with a 2554 .48 exhaust housing. Hence the tag A/S

Where did you get it from? What other turbo hardware do you have?

Got it brand new from a guy on marketplace. I don’t know where he bought it from.

Came with 5 bolts to v-band
wastegate actuator for internal WG
banjo fittings

A/S stands for anti surge because that 2560 has an ATP anti surge housing on it. It's still a regular 2560 but it just has a t3 turbine housing instead of a T2. The .48 t3 might flow similarly to a .64T2 housing. So in my estimation that turbo could do anything a typical 2560 could. It'll sound cool on spool with that compressor housing.

Yeah that's a T3 turbine housing. T3 .48 A/R is the same as a T25 .64 A/R.

ahh yes A/S for anti surge makes sense 😅😅. Does cast anti surge make a cool sound too? I tought it was only the drilled ones.

okay thanks for the precision. It’s exactly what I need. I was lucky on this one I bought the turbo a while ago at 17 when I didn’t know much.

When I was asking what other turbo hardware you have I was asking for manifold and such. As far as I am aware I am the only who make a turbo setup that will work with that turbo as is. I think the only other T3 based manifold besides mine is the TacoTaco and maybe CXracing still sells a t3 manifold.

I have a custom made manifold and downpipe. I bought these off marketplace but the down pipe won’t fit since it’s a 4 bolts and my turbo is 5 bolts. I’ll have to check the fitment and convert to v-band or 5 bolts.

not beautiful but once wrapped it will do the job
