Oil Squirters
Here's the scoop: I'm doing a VVT block, 4W head, boring 1mm over to fit 10.5:1 Wisecos and a FM turbo kit. Crazy, a little, but could be fun. Should I delete the piston oil squirters or leave them in? I've heard differing opinions and want to see what the turbo hivemind thinks. Thank you in advance!
On a turbo build it's no question for me. The piston lubrication and more importantly cooling is great. There's a reason they developed them for rally turbo engines back in the day. Potential downside is more oil getting past the rings and burning, but it should mostly be a non issue and the benefits are worth it.
On an NA engine it could be different since heat on the pistons and detonation is less of an issue. And less oil clinging to the pistons is less rotating mass and all that. Lots of people swear by deleting them but I'm with Curly on this one.
