Default buying a head that had blue devil used on it

Hey guys,

Have the chance to get a mazdaspeed head with cams and all but i am unable to see it, my wife would be picking it up. my aprehension comes from the guy says the head will need to be acid washed because it had blue devil gasket sealer used on it. makes me worry about how far gone it was. i was planning on getting it decked anyways but is it common for miata heads to warp to bad for them to be to far gone?

Is it warped, or just couldn't hold a hg?

Sounds like it needs a harness test. Why has it warped/blowing hgs - probably because it had an overheat event. Overheat the aluminium, and it can lose enough hardness to seal. You can do it with an iron ball if you know what you are looking for, or there are tools.

Soft heads are common, I know a bloke with a dozen or more he is (was?) saving up to be heat treated to restore the hardness.

So......no one's actually said that the head is warped, just that it's got head sealant on it. That in itself may mean that it's been on more than one car, which is a problem. Decking a head can cure many issues though.

I'd look at the seller more than looking at the part, IMO.
