I'm not sure what got me thinking about it but I just loaded Doom on my laptop and played it for a bit. It is amazing that it after 14 years I still remembered where all the enemies, weapons, and secret **** was. The game was a little jumpy - not sure if I needed to boot win xp in dos mode or what. I was just playing in a dos window. Anyway, why am I telling you guys this - I guess it is the Tequila talking. Get drunk, jam to some Zeppelin, play a little Doom. It doesn't get any better than this!
I have a Doom emulator as well as the actual classic games themselves.
Yup, it's great the way you still get sucked in and even 'jump' with fright sometimes.
Plenty of beer, a dark room, pair of headphones with the sound turned up, start rockin !

Any ROTT fans in the audience? That was by far my favorite of the era. Used to play that in the dorm at college- we ran coax ethernet (10b2) through the ceiling to most of the rooms on the floor, and did huge (for the time) IPX/SPX multiplayer games.

I have two arcade machines set up with MAME as well as 4 XBox 1's full of just about every emulator you can think of. My favorite old games:
MULE - C64 (listen to Black Sabbath's first album when you play)
SNAFU - Intellivision (ultimate drinking game)
Pirates - C64 and the later XBox game with the exception of the "dancing"
Quake - PC (listen to Metallica And Justice for all or Master of Puppets)
Impossible Mission - C64 (listen to VanHalen 1984)
Blazing Lasers/Military Madness - Turbografix 16
ROTT was great....didn't realize anyone else in the world knew it existed
I rediscovered my love for Quake 3 a few weeks ago. Q3DM17 + Rail gun FTMFW! Amazing how bad I was at first....

I've been playing it on and off tonight (trying to watch the Cowboys/Bears game). The graphics are much improved but I am a little disappointed in the story line. It has been a long time since Halo 2 and frankly I can't really remember what was going on in the game. It drops you right in the middle of the action without any explanation of what is happening. They should have started out with a 5 minute video on what has transpired over the past 2 games and where we are now. I keep screwing up and hitting B (shield grenade) by mistake. I haven't really gotten to use one like it is supposed to be used so far. I talked to one guy who said he finished the game in 5 hours but he might have been full of it. If it is only a 5 hour long game I will be upset.
