Default 1.8l to 1.6l AND 1.8l to 1.6l

I have two cars,a 1991 with 1.6l and a 8/1995 with a 1.8l.Even though the 8/95 is considered a 96 I cannot find an OBD connector and it has the Mazda diagnostic conn. under hood.
I want to swap engines and sell the 96.I know the install of a 1.8l into an earlier car is well documented.Has anyone put a 1.6l into a 94-97 car?

Maybe I should point out that it would be illegal to sell the 96 without telling the buyer about the smaller(more fuel efficient) engine.

It's also actually illegal to swap in an engine older than the chassis. Seems silly but it is true.

Some parts of BC.In the area surrounding Vancouver, cars have to pass annual "aircare" inspection.
As a mechanic I think it is rediculous that only a small part of the province has this inspection, but it is a start to cleaner air.

Sorry, off topic.
