Default Has anyone with a 2560 achieved 300hp on a 1.6L

I know Paul has hit it on a 1.8L, and there is a thread going now with 350 hp on a 1.6L with a jet turbine sized turbo. LOL

But the 2560 is supposed to be rated 300-310 hp max. Has anyone been able to achieve that with a 2560 on a 1.6L. How much boost would be needed to do that out of that turbo.

Or is it even possible on the 1.6L?

i'm going to guess 18-20psi before the turbo is totally maxed, and you still probably won't there. paul has a better head and intake manifold/throttle body.

Yeah I second that, if that's your goal, you should look for a bigger turbo. The 2560 will be out of effiency and won't flow enough.

Thats kinda what I figured. But I like the 2560. If I could hit 4 more psi though. I had it at 14psi the other day. OH-yea.................. 18psi would be wicked. But if I was going to throw in expensive rods, I guess I should just build the 1.8L, and pay a little extra for some mild head work.

But the 1.8L only has 109,000 on it and the car was clean,(what ws left of it) If paul can hit 310 on a factory 99 motor. Maby I can hit 300ish on the 96 1.8L. But then again, he does have all the special made Turbotim stuff doesn't he.

I originally said I didn't want over 250HP. Cause I didn't want to break things. But now I have spare drivetrain.

I'll pull an urban shoot and cross that road when I get there. LOL

I'm just feeling for a future plan. My motor runs great and I am well satisfied with the power. I actually turned it down to 10psi to save gas the other day. At 14psi it sucksssss gas. I couldn't stop flooring it. LOL

you can make it on a 1.6L, its just going to take a bit more pressure and a very efficient setup.

Wich turbo would you recommend for a 300whp goal? A compromise of spool and high end flow turbo.

If paul can do it on his motor, so can you, granted you have the same sort of supporting components (IE, good flowing manifolds) then you just need a few pounds to make up for the loss of displacement.

a 2560 to 2871 should suffice. I want to see what it takes for me to get close, but I'll never run it more than 250rwhp with this stock block.
