I would presume you could find a starting ignition map from this thread even though it's not directly related to emanage maps: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t18648/

thanks, but i cant relate it to the emanage. maybe because i dont see the total timing, all i see is what i add or take away. assuming ms and such you see the total timing. i need an effin idiots guide to this crap.

Sorry.

Not many members in this board using emanage as you can see.

Let's hope someone who knows can chime in.

I'll try and help. I'm using an EMB, however, so my gsc file wouldn't work for you.

I have my maps set to use the MAP sensor, so the MAP sensor (I wired it into the TPS) is on the vertical axis and RPM is on the horizontal axis. Somewhere on here I found a rule that said you want to pull 1 degree of timing per 2psi, but I found that wasn't really working for my setup, probably a result of the EMB and the fact that it can only add/remove so we never know exact timing.

Anyways, here's a pic of my ignition map:
(65% is ~11psi, every 5% is ~3.5psi, 35% is 0psi/absolute)
Also my setup doesn't go above 10psi, so ignore everything above 65%

Also, I'm going to tech school at Keesler AFB (I saw you're at Eglin) and I'll have my miata down here after x-mas. Any good drag strips or autox clubs in between us? Maybe we could compare setups sometime this spring. I still have yet to see another turbo miata in person.

I was thinking I had too much timing pulled, but at 10-11psi I was getting ping on my 3rd gear tuning runs (from 20mph-85mph). Honestly, your map seems to make a lot more sense than mine. I almost always had detonation issues around 5000-6000rpms. The rest of the RPM band was fine. I still have a few things I have to finish up on my car, and I'll be installing a Devil's Own water injection kit during christmas leave which should let me run a near stock timing curve.

With my current setup, detonation is holding me back from running more boost. I have enough fuel for 13-14psi on my gt2554, but I couldn't get rid of the detonation above 10psi.

I'm PMEL (Precision Measurement aka Instrumentation in the civilian world). Someday I'll be calibrating ****, but I've got another ~7 months here. Most of my squadron is avionics, however. I'll keep Pensacola in mind. I hope there is a good car scene around here because where I'm from there was virtually none.

yeah, i surprised my map is working tho. cause every other map i see at high rpm and max boost people add timing back in. i donno tho. i have no plans to dyno tune it yet. just had a baby, so funds are low. lol. pmel, thats cool. im a fire truck mechanic. been here at eglin for over two years now. i hear you about no car scene back home. im from a podunk town in PA and i absolutely love it here in florida. theres a couple big forums around here, race850.com (currently down ATM for cleaning) and driven2modify.com

Sorry for the late response...busy week.

I have seen people add timing back in after the torque peak ~5500 as well. I do that a little in my map. Never hurts to try, just back off when you hear ping. That's how I did it...basically lots of 20-85mph runs in 3rd gear. Also I found some nice curvy roads and pushed it a bit to see how my tuning held up to lots of throttle changes like you'd see in autocross.

I'll check out those forums...I definitely want to go to some car meets while I'm down here. Beats the lame *** tech school "hotel parties" everyone looks forward to on the weekends.

i think in section on post your maps you can find some maps with timing. i pulled 1 degree per psi and than added util knock. but i am running meth so it is a different story.
i'll look at that map later tonight maybe i can give you insight.

u are running off voltage. no pressure sensor?

ok, i tried a map pulling 10* through the torque peak, then adding back in. 2nd gear felt more sluggish, so i think imma go back to the to the last map and tweak that one.

yeah im running off of the maf sensor. with a new addition to the family i havent been able to work or spend money on the miata. i guess i consider myself lucky i still have a two seater. lol

i never tried using the V thus my question.
my advice would be to have a safe map rather than having to change the motor. mainly because of the reason you provided above. i would guess the 305 cc injectors with a fuel pressure regulator allows you to run 10 psi. i got some 460cc injectors if you need some. they are rx7 direct plug and play. i am a bit on conservative side with timing due to my wastegate i can't really hear when i am detonating got to get the knock sense in.
