Default Why do all the Kia water necks I could find tilt up?

On the left is the 99/00 factory neck. With the BEGI reroute spacer it hits the firewall. On the right is from a Kia Sephia from a pick n pull. There was a 2nd sephia with the same looking neck.

I also have one from a protege and while it doesn't his the firewall, it takes a larger hose than factory.

Now I know which ones to stay away from when I go hunting tomorrow.

I found a Protege one that suited:

The hose fitting is about 1mm smaller than the stock 99/00 neck.

Jason, what year Sephia did you get it from? It makes a difference. I got mine from a 2000 Kia.

It was either a 95 or a 96.

Hmm. my Kia neck looks like Clay's. I got mine new from a dealer, P/N 0K24715172A. I specified an '01 Sephia to them when I ordered it, so looks for cars in that range.

I also tried a Protege neck before that, and while the angle was correct, the diameter of the neck was so small that it sort of flopped around inside the hose. I can see that saboteur just clamped his down extra-snug, but I wasn't super happy with the fitment on mine. Here's a comparison, Miata 1.6 on the left, Protege on the right:

The OD of the Kia neck was just a tiny bit larger than the original Miata part, but with a dab of silicone grease the hose fit over it just fine.

Rang up a Kia dealer here and they said they've got that part in stock even though it doesn't specify what car it is for. Win!

I hope this is the right one. There were like 10 Kias in the yard. But no Toyotas for my cops!

That appears to be the correct one. Just measure the neck diameter and make sure your hose fits it.
