Default Bilstein Vs Koni length

I keep thinking about going to Bilstein's because my Koni's do not offer enough downward travel due to the rather short bodies. I have ISC top hats, GC collars, FCM 36mm bumps, and 400/220 springs. Having to drive the car out into the middle of no where, it needs to be raised a bit more then normal, but in order to do that currently, I must put a ton of preload into the springs and limit both my upward and downward travel. How much longer are the Bilsteins? A pictures worth a thousand words if someone has a side by side

What diameter is the Bilstein shaft? I remember having to drill a 1/2 inch hole for the Koni's in the top hats.

Sell the Koni's or the ISC top hats? I'd just dump all my stuff from the Koni's over to the Bilstein's.

Sorry for all the questions. I've been on the fence about this for over a year now.

This is hardly scientific, but my r-package bilsteins seem to be longer than the koni yellows i've handled, and the MSM Bilsteins are an inch longer yet. Those might be the right setup for you... though i'd recommend contacting Fat Cat Motorsports.

How long are your springs? Adding spring length might help if you have the room.

So I need to grab some MSM shocks and have them revalved.

8-9 inch springs in the rear and 7 inch springs up front IIRC

Mounting already short shocks in the ISC hats would limit droop travel by definition. I might think about starting with different hats and seeing what you get. Another option is to go with a higher spring rate to limit travel some. If your shock valving can support it, ride isn't impacted as negatively as you would think with higher rate springs.

Guess I'll go on the hunt for NB mounts for starters.

I hate stiff springs. Back problems + race buckets + stiff springs = no fun. Besides, I'm a fan of suspension travel.

On a side note, the new Caməro rear shocks are even shorter than out Miata shocks.
