Default has anyone tried a precision 5557sp turbo?

Just wanted to see if anyone has tried this turbo in comparison to a gt3071r. I am currently running the gt3071r and am looking to upgrade. I am interested in this turbo due to it's higher hp rating and have heard it spools as fast or faster. Also wondering if it would fit an absurdflow low mount v band manifold.

I think Eliminator from m.net w/600 whp mentioned running that turbo, I am not sure if he ever went that route or not. I have the big brother of that turbo and I love it, it's very efficient, billet wheels ftw.

Note that Garrett is releasing a GTX30 and a GTX35. You may want to look into that vs. the PT turbos. The garrett gtx series has billet wheels.

Also, tell us some about your build. I have a GT3071 as well. .86 trim

oh yeah just put on an ati damper. clutch is act extreme pressure plate and clutch master 4 puck sprung hub disc. just got everything back together after rebuilding. still breaking in the new engine. hope to have dyno results soon. looking for 450 or more on pump gas. was making 392 on pump with blown head gasket and 80 psi compression on cyl 2&3.

Our builds sound fairly similar. What psi got you to 392hp?

They do offer vband housings, but likely differ from tial flange.
Just weld a new flange on, its not hard.

those numbers were on my old set up which was a ported 94 head with stock valves. It was running about 26-27psi. Should have some new numbers soon. I'll try and get some pics on here. anything in you want some detailed pictures of?

I'm running a precision sc6062 billet wheel. Spool up is decent and flows 60lbs+/min, i think you'll be fine.

1.8 fwd bp in an mx-3. Stock, cryo treated internals, megasquirt, full race ramhorn, 3in exhaust etc. Haven't dyno'd it yet because i'm waiting on bigger injectors, but i maxed out my 550 cc injectors at 14lbs, so probably low 300's. According to datalogs i'm @ 10lbs around 4500 rpm.

Spool isn't that bad. I wonder how the flow compares to a GT35.

Too bad precision doesn't publish compressor maps.

No such thing as too big if you're drag racing

And to the OP, I don't know if it fits an absurdflow manifold.
