An MSM Bilstein will work on any car (NA or NB) provided that it is fitted with NB-style springs and NB-style tophats.
You cannot use NA-style springs or tophats on an NB-style damper, or vise-versa.
As an assembled unit, any homogeneous shock-spring-tophat package (NA or NB) will fit into any car (NA or NB).

*without collars or a flat style mount
Luckily the spring perches on the Bilsteins are removable/interchangeable. I'm pretty sure I have a set of NA (d'oh...NB) (angled) perches sitting around the garage for Bilsteins.

You are definitely right...NBs are angled.
The ones I have are also definitely angled...and won't work in this case. I was hoping I also had some flat ones, but I don't. These can be pretty easily made, but it's easier to just go to collars and 2.5" ID springs.

The Billies which came stock on these cars differ in one very significant way from the ones you can buy brand new for $93 for any Miata- they are painted silver.
