phone # to call to see if car has torsen rear end
I have searched to try and find the post with the phone # you call to ask mazda if a car has torsen. Does anyone know it. I could just call mazda cust service but is that who you call?
Sorry I know this info is on here somewhere but I cant find it.
I broke the 1.6 open rear end a 120 miles from home on saturday night.
That is no fun.
Thanks
Brian

pretty sure it's just mazda usa customer service number. googling yields http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/contactMazda.action and 1-800-222-5500
just tell them you're looking at buying a used car and want to know the options etc etc.

It's only necessary if you are looking at a torsen from an NB. The NA 1.8s were all package cars, so you can look at the options and know whether it's a torsen or not.

I am not sure I understand. I am looking at a guy who is parting out a 94 automatic. How do i tell if what he is selling is open or torsen?

Here are the rules for NA cars. The first rules have higher precedence over rules 3 and 4.
1. Autos do not have torsens
2. 90-93 Cars do not have torsens
3. An NA with power windows has a torsen
4. An NA without power windows does not have a torsen

This is the first I've heard this about NBs. My understanding was that any NB with leather interior had the Torsen also. Is that not true?
You need the Popular Equipment Package for Torsen and must have PEP for Leather so by default a leather car would have it.
Anyone who ever wants to know more can check here. Just click the year you are looking at.

Call all the numbers you want, but the only way to find out is to do a donut or similar wheelspin activity. You never know if miata guy before you stole the torsen out of it for his turbo car...like I did to an NB.
See the attached pdf for the details on what the option packages included for the NA. I have not seen a similar list for the NB's.
You can call any Mazda dealership and give them your VIN#, they can then look up what package and equipment the car had when sold new.
