Default Turbo mani and DP groupie

Well we have talked about it around the shop, discussed it on the forums and the local guys, it seemes there is enough interest that we should go ahead and fab up some manifolds for the Miata.

So here is our thoughts. We would like only 5 People to be ready to purchase the manifold and Down Pipe.

Each kit would start at only $700 plus shipping.

The manifold will come in a T2/25 or T3 flange. External gate can be added for a low cost.

The Down Pipe will come standard 4/5 bolt, Vband is an extra low cost.
The diameter of the piping will start at 2.5". Other larger sizing like 2.75" or 3" are also available.

If we see alot of support, i ensure you that we will Fab lager more shiny things.

Thanks guys.

Have any examples of anything you guys have fabricated or welded?

Probably need a little more details of what you have planned. Log manifold or tubular? Will it work with A/C and P/S? 8mm or 10mm studs for turbo?

Bump cause I know you like bumps.

In addition to the above questions, will this downpipe bolt up to the factory cat location? What year factory cat location? Flex joint in the downpipe? How is the downpipe supported, any bracketry to the bellhousing like the OEM? What turbos use "standard 4/5 bolt" downpipe flange?

I always like to see new manifold/ dp combos because most of us on this forum are willing to do DIY on everything BUT those 2 things. . . but group buys can be tough. the chances of you getting a handful of miata owners that want to turbo their cars with YOUR product all at the same time sounds like a stretch. Hell we can barely get a handful of people together to buy the same suspension, brakes, or even a front lip.

+7

You will probably sell a few at random, but until you have a few members that are already running them, I wouldn't look to do a group buy.

People would do group buys for Absurdflow or ARTech because these guys already have put out X number of pieces out over the years.

I love seeing new mani/dp combos as time goes on, so hopefully you'll still produce a few even if you don't get the 5 people off the bat.

Since no one asked, will these be for B6 or BP motors?

You're going to have to show and tell a LOT more than some random close up shots of a welding seam on who knows what.

Don't get me wrong, just like these other guys I'm all for you making these things and giving us more variety of manifolds on the market, but 100% of the members here will have to see finished product and/or see at least one bolted up and tested before they commit to 7 bones worth of piping.

+1,000 for like, every question already in this thread.

I'm in the market for a manifold/dp combo right now so this interests me, BUT I can't make any decision without fitment information. I'm n00b-er than hell but I would still want all these questions answered, plus want to see pics of this setup installed on a car configured like mine. Show us what you have in mind and things you guys have done for other platforms and we'll make a decision. I see HKS, Turbonetics, DC and Blackworks on your site but I don't see any Renown original parts in the inventory. Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot?

The Miata enthusiast has some very well know and developed parts around this price range. Not trying to be a dick or nothin', but Flyin' Miata is selling their cast manifold, cast turbo outlet and stainless downpipe for $750. It may not be as pretty, but its a known quantity. BEGi cast manifold and separated gas mild steel DP also carts out to $700.

Like I've mentioned in the other thread. I will be in the market in the next few months. But +1 on the details.

The benefit here is ZERO cast products, This is welded all in house and used with 3D flanges made in the USA. The benefit of using a tubular stainless design as compared to a cast design is less heat build up due to no casting flash, more efficient flowing design, lighter, less chance of cracking. Now I am not saying that cast manifolds are a poor design, nor am I saying that there unreliable. However if you could get a better performing manifold for about the same cost, wouldn't you be interested?

Here is some before and afters of a cast manifold a customer has brought us.
You can see one common issue is the turbo and wastegate flange inner diameters are much smaller that they need to be. The inner cast is more rough then the outside surface. This too is a great inexpensive service that we offer, we do this with o2 housings, manifolds, turbos, ect...

HUH?
You WANT heat in there. As much as possible actually. This is why people coat and wrap their manifolds. Also cast are known to crack far less often than tubular. I've no idea where you're getting that from.

yes you are right, the heat expansion is a must. I should word it better. We want less Turbulence and a better efficient flow. That's what I men't by Build up.

Voodoo engineering barble doesn't work at MT.net. Smartest thing so far is:

However if you could get a better performing manifold for about the same cost, wouldn't you be interested?
"yes".

Build it and price it, see if it sells. That's really all you can do, unless you answer all these questions and moar then hope for groupbuy participants.

Free dump bump.

Your port work stuffs look very nice. I imagine you will do a good job at the manifold...but pretty insides won't sell by itself. And you may be competing against builders who make killer quality fab'ed manifolds for ridiculously inexpensive prices. For this reason I cannot compete in the budget $700 manifold/downpipe market.

Photos of the whole manifold and downpipe, if not I CALL BS!!!

These people here will never buy a manifold and downpipe setup with out proof of fit and photos of what there getting. This is why ARtech has done so well, proven power, awesome fit, great reliability, and SOME SEXY *** PIC.

Photos sell item here not a promises!!!!

The issue you may have here at MT, and this is NOT a stab at you, anybody would make the mistake. These guys dont talk ----, infact, its the culture here to raze people who say anything that isnt pure 100%, no bullshit, cost vs dollar performance.

Most of us tune our own cars, after soldering together the ECU, then weld up a DIY manifold kit, or at the very least fit the FM/Begi/Artech/AbsurdFlow parts ourselves.

You have to build it, provide facts, photos, ZERO bullshit, and post dyno runs on youtube.
