83K on stock OEM 6" rearend, car had 35K and turbo when I bought it. It hasn't broken because:
1. I don't side-step the clutch launch the car from a standing start at high RPM
2. I don't have big sticky rear tires
3. I don't powershift the trans at WOT
4. I'm only running 8lbs of boost
5. I have a 7" 4.10 rear end, axles and drive shaft sitting in my garage
6. I have been lucky (maybe due to #5 above)

YMMV, one guy in my local Miata club has grenaded 2 6" rearends with na 1.6L stock motors doing hard autoX launches.

Thanks for that detailed post on your 1.6 diff Sn95!

Hopefully more members can chime in on their 1.6 diff miles while on boost...

~12K miles on 1.6 VLSD. 10PSI (~180RWHP). 192K total miles.

I drive like sn95. 1st gear never sees full throttle.

Anyone still running the 1.6 diff? There must be more than 2 people on this forum running them with boost!

me, I broke two, one had 192k on it and the spider gears tore apart in the diff, probably due to the PO. Second rear end broke the pinon teeth off it, drag racing, had a lot of wheel hop the couple runs I did. Finally few weeks later it let go.
I took the diff out of #2 rear end, and installed it in #1 rear end.

Mine had the stock 6" dif for about 30k miles at around 200whp. I knew it's limitations and tried not to push them.

I still have stock diff on my 92. Total miles is at around 187K, with the last 20K miles boosted. 9 PSI with SR20 T25 (similar to 2554).

No hard launches on daisy wheels with All-Season tires.

~15k miles, ~225k total miles with a SR20 T25.

It's all about mechanical empathy. However, I'm also upgrading to a 7" ASAP, because mechanical empathy isn't very fun to drive.

110k miles on my VLSD, ~15k poorly boosted. Aka bandaids that never worked perfectly. It was never launched, although a few N/A standing burnouts for fun. It let go at the track, politely at the end of my last session so I could get back to the pits, out of the gated section and into a parking lot to wait for a tow.

About 4k with 14lbs boost. Hard launches, power shifts and some clutch kicks. Ive beat the crap out of it, it does whine but seems smooth still. Going to try to replace it before summer and keep this one as a spare.

216k, 8k boosted 10psi. bunch of 1st gear pulls (no dumping clutch), lots of powershifting 2nd, no side stepping clutch, power sliding a few corners here and there

I did time trials, autoX (with launching) and two hillclimbs on my 1.6L diff. 195whp. The diff was Maruha but the ring gear/pinion was stock. Didn't have problems. Daily drove that car a solid 15k plus the racing. Then sold the diff and got a 1.8L because HP jumped significantly.

100k mileswithout turbo, massively beaten for the last 20k miles.

was holding perfectly untill i went to the drag strip, swapped some larger under-inflated winter tires and launched with launchcontrol+flatshift.lasted one summer
of street driving, lasted 3 run at the drag strip.

swapped a 4.10 2001 atx 1.8 open diff, have done countless launch/doughnut and still holding fine.installing my torsen this summer.

What would you define as "massively beaten"? Lol before the differential gave up at the drag strip.

having bought the new diff, i was eager to see the 6''' one explode

went to a parking and did hundred doughnut, clutchkicked it to death,
streetraced my roomate FD3s(launch control+flatshift/powershift) a dozen time

havent fubared it that night, so the next day i went to the strip and finished it properly(upped the boost, swapped some larger wintertire and launched like if my life depended of it)

was at 12 psi all the time, 16 on the strip on a gt2560r
